NO stupid "you copied your profile"

Archive: 5 posts

Its completely pointless, what is someone really going to break into your house to steal your LBP profile and put your levels online that should already be online anyways? Its stupid because what if your PS3 breaks, or you get a new one, now you have to start ALL OVER! I don't even know why they had this feature in the game. I can't import my profile because I "copied" it. Now I have to start over. Not just the story mode, I have to remake all my 100+ plus costumes and everything! They should really get a patch to remove this, its completely pointless and ruins the game for people who's PS3s might have broken or had a profile on another PS3 and copied it to their new PS3.2011-01-19 22:17:00

You don't get this message unless you copy to a different account...as long as you use the same PSN on the new PS3 you can use your old profile.

btw: I agree it's silly...but it's probably because of trophies (also silly).

It's to stop people getting a 100% save off the internet and using it to unlock content they havn't paid for, I know it sucks for legit users but I doubt things are going to get changed.2011-01-19 22:39:00

Trophies don't really count anyway in the backups, because they're stored online and associated with your PSN account - so they're always fine.
It's not just LBP though - it's all of the games on playstation. To be honest, I am unsure why the option is even there to copy the save files seeing as you can't transfer them to another sub user on the same PS3, let alone a new PS3.

Something I'd recommend - get a large external hard drive, and back up the utility on your entire PS3 every once in a while. It's a long process, but it works. It takes a while to backup fully (couple of hours), but it's worth that piece of mind that if your PS3 does break, at least you don't have to start from scratch again.

I learnt the hard way.
