Multiple output button.. simple version?

Archive: 1 post

So I finally got LBP and went to remake the things I made in the beta, one of them being the 2-way button. Button, not switch. I improved it alot, because it was completely unpredictable before. Basically it's a red button that has 2 outputs depending on the number of presses.
For Example:
Press 1 - Piston goes up.
Press 2 - Piston goes down.
Press 3 - Up.
etc..
The reason I made this button to begin with, is that I needed a "reset button".
Example:
If the piston is up and the reset button is pressed, it will go down.
If the piston is down and the reset button is pressed, it will do nothing.
For that the "state" of the other button has to be saved somewhere, which is why I made the 2-way button.

So I just made an improved version of this 2-way button which is now 100% predictable and working. The only problem: I used 3 AND gates, 1 OR gate, 4 emitters, a rotating "stick" with a motorbolt and tons of magnetic switches/keys for ONE button. Now I can place 3-4 for of these and every one after that takes up about half a "step" of the thermometer.

I might publish it in a level and post it in creation showcase for you to look how I made it, but I'll probably make some more stuff first and publish it all in one. You can always send a friend request though, so I could send the object over.

Can anyone come up with a simple way to make a button with 2 or more different outputs?

Edit:
Umm.. I just solved the problem myself and I'm quite shocked how simple I could make it.
It's one piston and one emitter now.. nothing more. I haven't though about how to add more than 2 inputs yet and it'll probably take a few things more. But hey, it was like a huge machine before with all those logic gates and emitter switches xD.
