A warning to European creators!

Archive: 9 posts

Okay, to start with....you might not be aware of this, but people in the USA are already playing your old LBP1 levels in LBP2 and they may be slamming them with bad ratings due to problems and glitches that you cannot fix right now. I live in the UK, so I don't have LBP2 yet, but checking the ratings on lbp.me, I noticed last night that one of my levels was getting slammed with faces in LBP2 and comments telling me that "the light puzzle is glitched", making the level uncompleteable. Since I don't have LBP2 yet, I have no way to investigate or fix the issue. The only thing I could do to save it from a flood of faces was to lock it down totally in LBP1. Unfortunately a lot of damage has already been done because I didn't realise there was a problem until it was too late, and now I have over 150 faces tagging my level. I don't think it helped that the level was an Mm pick and easily visible for other players to spot, but the fact is that ALL of our levels are being played in LBP2 without the need for us to republish them there, and ALL our levels are at risk from harsh ratings due to problems we can't currently fix.

My advice to European creators is this...contact a friend in the USA and ask them to test your levels for you. If there seem to be serious issues with the LBP2 versions of your levels then lock them all down until you get the game. Unless you really, really like this face all over your ratings pages...

I had thought about this, I didn't think too much damage would be done in a few days. I guess your levels are much more popular.2011-01-19 14:18:00

Don't worry too much, LBP2 rating not effecting level at LBP1 since they use 2 different rating systems and don't forget that mmpick already place your level sky high in terms of rateing.

Oh and other thing don't update level using LBP2 or else it won't be playable at LBP1 Maybe change description that level is incompatible in LBP2 or something

Did you guys saw that in the publishing options, there's an "only in LBP1" option (under the locked/copyable options) that avoid the LBP1 levels to be seen and played in LBP2, and that's a great thing!

I choose this option for my 3 published levels, until I decide to update them in LBP2

@Ungreth : I suggest you to lock your levels till friday

Hum, you don't have to delete them.
Just lock them for now if you don't want people to play them

My lbp1 rpg level had a review in lbp2, it said that the cursor was too inaccurate. Don't think he knows I had to make it with jetpack and floaty2011-01-19 21:38:00

As I said somewhere else, I left my levels on the default global light settings and hardly any lights, would that be OK? Also, I've only had 2 LBP2 plays, and both have been 2011-01-19 22:04:00

Looks like I have only had one LBP2 play on three of my levels so far. Us no name creators are safe.
I used plasma/thin gas on one of mine, seemed to work fine in the beta at least. I'll lock it just in case.
I would wager levels are safe if you didn't use any glitches?

Really sucks about your level Ungreth!
