Possible New Sackbot Type. Possible Spoiler, so don't read if you don't want to know

So I'm sitting here taking a break from all the fetching eye candy and amazing gameplay while eating some fries, and I thought I'd check out the extra content stuff on the disk. During the LBP style PSN tutorial, a house is dropped into the scene at around 2:30 into the video. Now... I don't know if this was just cleverly done with the sackbot decorations or if it's a new sackbot we will unlock during gameplay or maybe something in the way of future DLC... but... there is a SACKDOG walking across the front lawn!! I know right?! That's what I said too! I said "ZOMG!!" You can't clearly see any legs walking, which is why I suspect that it may just be some clever creating on Mm's part. However, if it's not just trickery and this is something we will have access too... this REALLY changes a lot for us as creators and opens up a completely new world of possibilites. During the beta, I had wished Sackbots were more editable. For example, for about 25 years now... I have been fascinated by characters with four arms. I actually thought about trying to bring one of these characters into LBP when I was goofing around with a sackbot and attached two extra arm deco's to his body. I thought... "Geez, I'd love it if Mm gave us more flexibility with sackbot building!" Anyways.... now that I've seen this little Sackdog... I wonder if maybe Mm aren't giving character design and generation a lot more thought than they've let on so far. Food for thought. | 2011-01-19 04:06:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/7803/img0188wn.jpg Looks like a Sackdog to me. I wonder if it can be made using what we have or if it really is something soon to be released. | 2011-01-19 06:52:00 Author: The-Unknown-Thief Posts: 49 |
Lol.... awesome little thing. Wait.... can you attach DCS,(controllinator) to sackbots? If not, that might be an actual use for them..... horse costume | 2011-01-19 06:57:00 Author: AA_BATTERY Posts: 1117 |
@The-Unknown-Thief. Thanks for getting a screen grab for us, I was just about to do the same and thought I'd check the thread first to see if it's generating any interest. If you look closely, it's even got a little nubby tail in the video, which is another reason I think it might actually be a full-on-double-rainb... I mean, Sackdog. Actually, you can just barely see it in Thief's picture he posted for us. @AA_BATTERY. No, you can't attach a DCS... yet. Maybe if were lucky, then "soon". I was also thinking of the possible uses for steeds like Horses, or other weird fantastical creatures. Wouldn't it be great if we could really tweak the sackboy's bodies to the way we want? Multi-legged creatures, bi-pedal steeds resembling dinosaurs or large birds, etc. Heck, even if we could just change the amount of limbs and add basic sackboy skins, stickers/decorations... that would be amazing enough! Yeah I know, it's dreaming... but it's a pretty great dream nonetheless. | 2011-01-19 08:33:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

Sorry. | 2011-01-19 09:50:00 Author: Jedi_1993 Posts: 1518 |
Alternatively, maybe they put a gyroscope on a sackbot to keep its body horizontal and made it pull back its head. Would that work? | 2011-01-19 11:26:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Hey guys, It was actually me who made this PSN tutorial so I can confirm that it is indeed just a wooden block that's made to bob up and down with Sackbot decorations on it Glad it fooled a few of you though, means I did something right! | 2011-01-19 12:12:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |

Why you sneaky little... Thanks for clearing this up. I was really close to thinking this was something new, but the lack of legs seemed out of place in the video and was honestly the only thing that kept me skeptical and on the fence. Can anyone post a link to the video? I don't have LBP2 yet but I wanna watch xD There is no video to link to. It's an extra feature in the game disc. | 2011-01-19 17:56:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

I think this would be a great addition to the game! You could choose body types and angles, and place limbs on them just like you would decorations. Maybe something like the Monkey King Crown, where the pattern is taken directly from the current skin, could be used for this. You could have arms, legs, tails, wings, ears, bumps, etc., for use on the sackbot, and create whole creatures. | 2011-01-19 21:58:00 Author: Number7Million Posts: 248 |

Too bad for four-legged sackpeople... But for multi-armed sackbots I kinda found a solution to that... or at least as an illusion, haven't tried gameplay with it. I can't post a tutorial yet however Need helpful pics But then again it's quite simple so yeah, if you ever figure out the multiarm trick... IT IS MORPHING TIME! just use arm decos That's exactly what I did in the Beta, which was what got me thinking about this specific character design from years earlier. Problem with deco's is we only have regular ugly knit arms or sackbot arms. Neither will match for characters and can't be skinned or clothed. It works great on the sackbot I designed with them in the beta, but that's about it. Even that's a bit limiting because of no movement and the arms passing through the deco's. Well, maybe we'll have something like this idea in LBP3. | 2011-01-20 10:30:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

Your new Avatar is SICK! Did you make it yourself? One of the nicest ones I've seen on here! Anyways, uhh... yeah... Dean... super creepy! I saw that and thought someone at Mm must have a pretty twisted dark side. It just doesn't fit in with anything else LBP... very weird. As for the tentacles, that was the first thing I did with the Monsters pack tentacles on it's release day. Similar effect, but more pronounced with the Monster pack ones (and looks awesome when that character is swimming). Still, I do love the colours of the actual tentacles costume piece. The new costumes are amazing (except for the disco suit stuff... that's just fugly imho). | 2011-01-20 18:32:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

LLOOOOLL that dog is just a cripple sackbot!! seriously though, i was thinkng about suggesting animal sackbots, but in the end i decided that i preffered all the handmade animals that i came across in the beta does anybody not worry that we are going to see loads of dogs that look exactly the same as one in another level? part of the appeal (to me) about LBP was the quirkyness and originality in [most of] the community levels, if that really is a dog sackbot - or a sackbot with an animation type set to dog (just a theory) - then i'm happy, if a little cautious | 2011-01-20 19:31:00 Author: Skalio- Posts: 920 |
