Is Collector's Edition worth it?

Archive: 19 posts

Well i searched and didn't find a thread that says if CE is worth the $80 or not. To those of you who purchased it, what do you think? Was it well worth your money spent? I pre-ordered it but I've been a bit weary of the price. Thoughts?2011-01-19 00:06:00

I, for one, did not get it. I saw it as a waste of money, guessing that those extra costumes will later be available. Actually, a majority of the price was prom those bookends and the plush, which I didn't think was worth it.2011-01-19 00:10:00

I'm extremely happy with my CE purchase. ONLY $20 more for what you get is an extremely good deal. CE's of other games easily run up to over $100 just cause they know the fanboys will pay it (Glares at Gran Turismo and Call of Duty). But MM hasn't been greedy like that, so we should support them. <32011-01-19 00:16:00

You know.... whether it's worth it or not depends on your point of view.

I bought it, and it was worth it.... but only because I have a child that really enjoys the book ends, and I'm now using the Sackboy as a decoration in my living room. Looks cute next to my family photos. I'm not much into costumes (I use a HORRIBLE looking bushman I designed using leaves, a witch nose, big ears, and 2 pimples on the chest.... looks fantastic with my crown....)

I suppose if you like any of these things, it's worth it, but for many it wouldn't be. It would probably have been nicer if they gave a few DLC packs to raise the value a bit.

I've already made my point clear on the CE elsewhere. Like CCubage said, it's all a matter of opinion really.2011-01-19 04:28:00

The CE is nothing special though, really. Buy it if you want the Sackboy plushie, like I did, but besides that, the costumes you can live without.
The game is terrific btw, pick it up ASAP!!

Did the exclusive DLC ever come out on the PSN shop for LBP1? I remember seeing some of those code cards going for over 100$ for the DLC that came from preordering it at certain stores2011-01-19 05:21:00

Yes, they have, if you're talking about DLC like God of War & Heavenly Sword. Anything else, I cannot say.

Regarding to the thread... tbh, I'm a costume nut, so this was a perfect fit for me. NOW, all I need to do is... get... it. O_o

Eh-heh. ^_^"

I was very happy with my CE purchase. I like the bookends and the Sackdoll. I was also happy I got all of the pre-order DLCs. Definitely worth the $20.2011-01-19 06:55:00

i got my CE, and its well worth it just for the plushie alone.the DLC costumes were an additional bonus. but that's just a in my point of view.2011-01-19 07:01:00

I think the bookends are kind of cheesy and I already had a nicer looking sackboy plush, so those weren't worth the price to me (I ended up giving them to my nephew), but I like costumes. In all likelihood, all of the costumes will be available for purchase later, and some may be in packs, so it may not have been worth the money... but I wanted them 2011-01-19 07:29:00

I figure it this way.

Animal pack: $3.99
R&K: $2.99
J&D: $2.99
Alien: $1.99
Gonzo: $1.99
Tron: $1.99
Avatars $1.99

That's $19. I got the plush and the bookends for $1.

Sounds like a deal to me.

Chalk me up as unimpressed. The bookends aren't really that great and the plushy looks like a cheap half-arsed pirate knockoff of Sackboy, the color and proportions are all wrong. I just sighed and packed it all back up and am happily playing the game.

The costumes aren't anything very interesting to me. Maybe if you're a big Muppets or Ratchet & Clank fan you'd care more than I do. I haven't even bothered using my codes...

So, for me, the CE was a waste. The main thing I was excited about was the plushy, 'cause they made it look so good in the ads...

And considering the UK version was more expensive than the US version, but doesn't come with the plushy or the bookends.
No, it's a waste of cash.
You could pick up the standard version somewhere cheaper and spend the money you saved buying the costumes (which will definately be released later) - and it'd still be cheaper.
The metal case isn't anything special either
