Make a Mover, like a piston
Archive: 6 posts
Been playing around for a while and can't figure it out (been using timers, tags and toggles all around ). How can you make a mover make a platform go up and down like a piston would. I'm not offended if you think I'm that stupid I need a diagram. Thanks! | 2011-01-18 22:49:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
Can I just point out that this question, unless you've missed out some vital info, is roughly equivalent to the following: I'm in need of something to go on my toast. I've got some jam, cheese, marmite and bananas. What I really want is jam on toast, so can someone tell me how I can combine cheese, marmite and bananas so that they taste like jam... Just use a piston. Or just use the jam. I've forgotten which is the actual question.... | 2011-01-18 23:13:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Yes, that would be the logical response- as rtm said! Otherwise, use a sequencer and put a mover going in one direction in one segment, and then a mover going in the opposite direction in the next segment. So after a fashion, THAT is how you make jam out of cheese, marmite and bananas | 2011-01-18 23:20:00 Author: Weretigr Posts: 2105 |
If rtm's witty reply is over your head, just use a piston. Or the jam. Edit: Argh, sniped! | 2011-01-18 23:24:00 Author: booXely Posts: 654 |
...heh.... But yes, you could also make a platform go up and down using movers and logic. Here's a bit to get you started: Put a circuit board on the platform. Add a timer Add a toggle switch and hook the output of the timer to the input on the toggle Add 2 movers - one that goes up, one that goes down. Attach the output from the toggle switch to the input on the first mover. Add a "not" switch. Attach an output from the toggle switch to the input on the "not switch" Attach the output from the "not" switch to the input on the 2nd mover. Now, the platform should move up and down. One of the benefits of using a mover is it removes the physics, so using logic instead of pistons can have a benefit sometimes. But, as rtm says - if a piston will do it, use a piston. (DayneOrem's suggestion will work great for having it stop inbetween. This was basically if you want it to work EXACTLY like a piston going up and down) | 2011-01-18 23:29:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Just use a piston. Or just use the jam. I've forgotten which is the actual question.... Pistons are fixed though and won't work on the thing I'm making. I can also just copy and paste the microchip where I need it. Thanks CCubbage! | 2011-01-19 00:24:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
