You'll need to be a bit more specific. IIRC we need to know the URL to which the advert links in order to block it.

Aren't the adverts based on your browsing history anyway?

I often seem to end up with adverts from the NHL shops, rubbing in the fact I can't afford a Kings jersey...

Anyway, you been looking at inappropriate things?

I dunno, they're obviously not all based on sites you visit?

... You make a convincing point... <_<

I dunno, somehow it seems unlikely LBPC tracks our history...

Though I have to admit I've never seen any NHL adverts... or inappropriate ones, for that matter.

Not necessarily LBPC. I think Google does that. And some other sites. I had this magazine article where they went to Amazon and started to travel from ad to ad, then they wrote down every suggestion. And the "chain" can be seen around the text, really neat.2011-01-18 20:51:00

I've never seen any inappropiate ones either, but i doubt they are based on browsing history as if they are, it appears i must search for Cadbury's a lot, or that i need to insure my home,( which i don't even own one...) which i obviously don't search for.2011-01-18 20:52:00

Equally though, I've seen it plenty of times where whatever the thread contains is then shown as advertisements on that forum...

So I dunno, i guess that can happen.

I has proof.

Just got this at the bottom of my page:

http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/Screenshot2011-01-19at174233.png

/smug face.

Edit: It is also showing a Kings jersey as the main one, which is the team I support and therefore the team I looked at buying a jersey from. Shipping to the UK plus those prices made it hard though. As I said, it's just mocking me.

However, it also proves my point.

I am older, but there is no nakedness or anything that could possibly harm the minds and souls of the young ones on here. 2011-01-19 19:40:00

:O MEMBERS OF THE OPPOSITE GENDER TO ME!

We'll take a look at the ad, alexgangsta, and discuss. If it's inappropriate, I'd say it's mainly in the target audience! Anyone here for some bust enhancement or plastic surgery? No?

And you've been informed correctly, it's google that has scanners that read through text for key words and produce certain ads according to what you've discussed. We had great fun with it in one of the social groups, coming up with all sorts or weird words and ideas and watching the ad bots scramble to find something relevant... heheh..

I don't believe we had any luck with waffles previously. But you don't ever want to mention weight loss... there are a billion of those ads

Yes, it is a bit. The ad is under discussion, but at the moment the general consensus is that it's not "adult content", so the IP will likely not be blocked. If it bothers you, just avert your eyes

Locking.
