Now, Something Different. Auto Talk.

Wanted to talk about something different, and instead of politics, how about cars? I don't think there are that many (or any..) gear heads really on LBPC, but for any of them that are around, lets chat shall we? So to start off, I decided to share these three finds relating to The N?rburgring, arguably the best track out there. Not only that, but it is (or.. was..) pretty affordable to the public. So, back to the videos. Here's a 1970s compilation of crashes in the north corner, Nordschleife. I should point out there is nothing fatal in this, not even anything beyond a broken bone or two. Pride and the cars though... different story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xwc54G2Ur8&feature=player_embedded A video of a couple guys taking a Renault Clio around the 'ring, with a couple incidents. Mainly featuring the end result of a race with a GT3. [Note: I don't know what language they are speaking. So no idea what thy are saying.] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK3wZf9IWVY&feature=related And finally.. the Pagani Zonda R's record setting lap. 6:47:5. "Woooo!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPd0ATqvoJM | 2011-01-18 17:16:00 Author: KoingWolf Posts: 386 |
I'm an underage petrolhead. As I'm not old enough to drive, but am very much interested in cars. The 'ring is somewhere I wish to go to some time. My best time in gt5 is better than that Zonda. But I did it in a 89' Minolta. | 2011-01-18 17:28:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Congratulations! You've picked the one topic I have no opinion or interest in in the slightest! All I know about cars is that they have four wheels (except the one with more or less wheels) and are blue (except the ones which are red *or a different colour) | 2011-01-18 17:56:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
I'm an underage petrolhead. As I'm not old enough to drive, but am very much interested in cars. The 'ring is somewhere I wish to go to some time. My best time in gt5 is better than that Zonda. But I did it in a 89' Minolta. Going from underage petrolhead to one of age, is the best transition ever. Having all that love for cars is so much better appreciated when you can legally gt behind the wheel and go out for a drive, anytime you want to. And even though that first car you buy/ gets handed down to you is garbage to everyone, to you, it might as well be a Zonda, Lambo, or Ferrari. I know that's how I felt anyway, getting my first (legal) drive with my '93 Ford Taurus. For a quick story as to why I keep saying "legal," I bought my first car when I was 18, going on 19. Freshly moved to Florida, I had the cash for it ($2,000), but the paperwork the Florida DMV required was broken. Their entire system was, making it impossible for someone such as myself in the unique situation I was in (no parents, living in a pre-paid condo) to get a drivers license.. So I never did my entire year in Florida. Now my new car did not just sit in the parking lot though, if you know what I mean? Do I feel it was worth the risk? Absolutely. I wasn't going to walk 5 miles to get food every week and there is no transit system in the country area of Florida I lived in, so I wasn't going to walk 20 miles just for entertainment. Is it better to drive legally though, knowing if you speed here and there you wont get possibly thrown in jail? That's a definitive yes. So don't do what I did, and make sure you're all legit when you go become of age. (My advice) As for GT5, I actually never got my hands on that game, a sin to some, I know, but just didn't have the money when it first came out... :S But I have to go now, the FedEx man just came, and he might as well have been Santa Claus because I finally have my Collectors Edition of LBP2. [So sorry for anything that I left incomprehensible or otherwise confusing.] | 2011-01-18 17:59:00 Author: KoingWolf Posts: 386 |

Man, could you have imagined if that convertible had rolled over? That wouldn't have been so pretty. | 2011-01-18 22:11:00 Author: Enlong3 Posts: 357 |
Any petrol heads in LBPC? Looks at username and avatar So far I've been driving with my parents in the car with me, for 1.5yrs 'cause of laws. In couple of weeks though I'll be on my first Provisional licence which allows my to drive by myself. I would be very excited except I have no car of my own I'll be allowed to use my parents car from time to time but it's not same, there's not as much freedom. Back to my username SR20DET is the engine inside my favourite (affordable) car the Nissan 180SX. I would love to have this car but I'm thinking of getting a dual-cab instead, the extra seats for friends and extra space in the back will make life so much more convenient. Ultimately I want to travel to Japan (180SX by my side) and do some time attack at Tsukuba Circuit. One day maybe... one day. Nurburgring would be amazing too but Tsukuba comes first for me. Kinda a rushed post but that's because I'm going camping in about an hour, and I'm yet to start packing | 2011-01-18 22:32:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
Not exactly a gearhead - but I'm learning to drive at the moment and I'm enjoying it. It is something I've wanted to do for a while - and tbh, it feels weird being in the driving seat after being driven around a lot as a kid. Hopefully should have my full license within a few months from now. Insurance is gunna be a pain though isn't it? | 2011-01-18 22:33:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |
