First LBP2 DLC Power-Up announced

Archive: 72 posts

According to Mm on the LBP2 Launch video feed in NYC... A new power-Up is coming down the pike for your favourite sackboy... Keeping in the '-inator' tradition, be on the look-out for the "MOVENATOR" coming sometime, somewhat, 'soon':hrmf:

Like most power-ups it appears to be part of a larger pack... that discussing seemed to be, out of the question.

I smell a PS move pack.

EDIT:
What I mean is that the illuminator is probably a powerup that looks like a wand or a PS move and once you pick it up you're into the PS move! There's that pink illuminated material that you pull around with the PS move (Meaning i believe that this is a PS move pack.)

Caught you! You're trying to slect and copy my text and claim it as your own!

I smell delicious cheese
But whatever... I guess it's some kind of flashlight (?) with PSMove compatibility... maybe?
Maybe you can point the PSMove at the screen to illuminate dark levels
Non-PSMove users could use the right analog stick, I guess

I'd guess a portable touch with various switches and sensors react to light. Like tell sackbots to be affraid of light, or to follow it.

Good for nightime and horror levels maybe.

well this probably won't be Alan Wake as it is an xbox exclusive (I think?) but it may have something similar like a detective pack, but the move intergration would be cool as I only have the starter disk for it so far :/2011-01-18 17:20:00

I wish we could get hologram-like lights.
Or the ability to handle holo like a light.

I'm guessing we have to pay for the powerup?
I'm ok with that if they make some levels for it.

It sounded like just a part of something significantly bigger that 'the guys' were not going to talk about... so I think they'll be a level pack purchase which will get you this power-up ...like MGS/ paintanator and POTC/ water power-ups. It could either be a flashlight, or something involved in the Move pack, or both! I'm guessing there will be a "light switch" so when the light from the illuminator shines on it, it activates whatever it's attached to. It could be just plain light though for the Move pack. So where the Move controller is pointing, it is lit up. That's just my 2 cents though.2011-01-18 17:53:00

There are lightboxes, if you're after a non-physical, invisible light source.

yep, flashlight, no doubt.

what else could it be?

light grenades? would be easy as pie to do with the creatinator.

lightsaber? would not make sence... no use for it.

a glowing costume? .... hey... yeah, o3o actually... that makes sence, a costume that have power for a short amounth of time, no spotlight-like-light. just a glowing costume. hm.

I believe that Sackboys and Sackgirls have required hand lanterns from time old, to roam the worlds of shadows. Where Each Sack has its own light source; Where the illumination also remains in power of the player and not only of the creator. I want LBP2 NOOOOOOOW!!!!! Sorry.... I am furious2011-01-18 18:40:00

but all jokes aside I can't wait to see a new power up already on the move

It's gotta be for PS Move. I mean, what else could it be? With a name like 'Illuminator' and the MASSIVE GLOWING BALL on the PS Move, I'd be willing to bet it's Move related.

I'm glad. I love my PS Move, and I love LittleBigPlanet, so it only makes sense I'd love them even more together!

Wow, so many people who think this has something to do with the Move DLC. Seems very unlikely, since power-ups are picked up by sack people, and the Move cuts the sack out of the equasion.

And they said we were crazy when we went Sepiroth Pants in Vid + Excited Evans Doubles Possibilities = Final Fantasy Pack with Game State Saving! (I'm still sticking with that theory, it's a winner! )

But getting back on topic: couldn't you already make a flash light with the creatinator by emitting very short-lived invisible lights very fast?

Maybe it'll be a sensor and power up combination that would work together to sense when a light hit an object? Would make for some cool puzzles and visuals I think. Guess we'll have to wait to find out! Exciting!2011-01-18 22:02:00

I'm hoping it has nothing to do with the move, purely so we can have two separate packs (more sutff).

The powerup will probably be a flashlight or w/e. And I was thinking about the creatinator just emitting lights...

Also, did anyone else read the 'illuminator' and think 'Deluminator'?

And I agree with the move not being a power up. They were just saying the move wouldn't be called a power up, not that it wouldn't be in the game (I think).

I like Duckywolf's idea as it being a lantern, and maybe it could have a light setting and could be timed, which reminds me, a long time ago I really wanted enhancements to be timed so fingers crossed this one at least could be. And lanterns remind me of swamps, which remidns me of an idea I got earleir today xD Dw, I'm not trying to make this up but I did imagine swap-like stuff like moss for ex., tha would be real awesome, but *achem* this does look cool and I agree, hope if there's anything of it relating to the move, it's not mvoe only2011-01-18 23:03:00

I hope it's what I wanted, what I posted in one thread in the suggestion sub forum, the echo screen like flashlight tool. It sounds like it could at least be something kinda like that. Illuminator, cause Illuminate is to light up. To shadowtiver they could use the ps move of course. The ball type sensor thing can be the light type part just like they do it in echo screen II.2011-01-18 23:37:00

Lol, looks like we were all wrong

I have two moves, so I'm looking forward to, but I hope there's some way of letting us know the level uses Move before we play it. I'd hate to get to the middle and suddenly not have anywhere to go. If I do get it, I'll probably just use it for bonuses, by the looks of it not many people have Move.

I'd buy a move but with the distance you probably need to make it work i can't use it

but yeah hopefully this won't result in a TON of move related levels....would kill it for me since i wouldn't be able to enjoy them

but yeah movinator? movenator? whatever it is I hope it can be of use to our creators to make LBP2 even more fun then it already is

also hope MOVE support works on create mode for people with awesome drawing skills and such to be able to make AWESOME things

All depends on creators, they need to keep in mind that not everybody got move, same as they need to understand that lot of people prefer to play it i with more people(and lot of creators don't understand it). So they should think about hybrid control system where if someone want to control with move it will control with move if not then controller.2011-01-20 13:09:00

well this "gimmick" could well be one of the greatest things to come to LBP2...because now artists have a virtual paint brush to make their own visuals in LBP2 and makes things easier for others as well in create mode...so it IS something worthwhile

Move can open some new possibilities, so i say go for it. Besides they prehistoric moves are out and there no create components for it's features, so they need to fill it up 2011-01-20 17:15:00

The only problem I have with this is how it divides the community. The principle of LBP is that everybody can play anything, regardless they have the DLC or not. It's a main feature of LBP and LBP2.

But now guys I hope you are ready for those move levels that you won't be able to play if you don't have Move. I really hope that AT LEAST they add a filter for Move levels so they can get out of my search results if I don't buy Move.

I wouldn't worry to much about it...if anything our LBPC brothers and sisters (including the greats) will know this and if anything won't make many MOVE restricted games...or if any maybe just 1 or 2 levels....

tbh I could see MOVE being used as a special device in games as a way of unlocking special content within levels or things like that

but i'm more concerned about how MOVE will be used in Online Create

I would have, but I use my 360 alot more than my PS3. My PS3 is mainly for exclusives and 3D Blu Ray's.

I don't really want to buy something that I'd only use for one game really. So I hope this game doesn't start depending on Move.

Actually, using a MSC for art requires a lot of practice, and considering that there aren't really any good paint-type programs to practice with on consoles, it's going to take a long time before that ever becomes a positive of this. The Move isn't a Wacom, for sure.

I am clinging to the dim hope that this is just something that moves objects in-game. Please, Mm, don't fail us now!

Ehhh you guys have really have stereotypical approach to that. Did Move destroyed PS3 games? No, so LBP wont be killed eather, surly there will be Move only levels, if someone love Move as a hardware and have idea how to use then he will be happy since LBP can use it ad realize it idea. Also as i said if level will use Move it does not mean it will require it, there way to make hybrid solutions for both controls and it does not need to be aiming. For example we got moving objects like prehistoric moves, if somebody won't have move we can make them move by them selves without help of move have menu using Move? and analog controls to cursor too

I there 2 key things to make both sides happy

1st MM need to add some Move detector so logic will know if there move controller on console, so level could set itself depending what player have. Such solution would be great even to Move in LBP idea in general, since there migt be solutions in our head that uses 2 Moves
2nd (hearest) Creators with move need to realize that there people who don't have Move and if it's possible with there idea make pad controls in to it, i bet Move only levels will have less rating anyway since there more people with pads then Move

Oh and Shadowcrazy Move wont be much better then pad for create Nuber7Seven is right it not such precise as stuff that artist use, inf fact in pointing WiiMore is more precise since Mote figures where TV not Console as Move do which do by accelerometers and ball detection readings. more better for them will be mouse support witch probably allow to use pen pads that as i know uses mouse protocols. Even so LBP is not much mouse friendly tool since all create controls was made to be easy with pad and don't have much brashes and things, you still ending up using corner tool which mouse controls won't beigit much more

I am clinging to the dim hope that this is just something that moves objects in-game. Please, Mm, don't fail us now!

Alex said they plan to do same what they did PS controller, and Jonee was also saying you could make sackbot following Move movement so you don't need to worry i think

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWlf7HCwQuY at 6: something

but even so simple cursor follower or extra tweak option for follower to move cursor would be great or else it will be hard to make pointing stuff in level, which is essential if you want to make something with Move . Also some pointing sensor would be great too
