Hi there, thanks for playing Geartown! My LBP2 didn't arrive (), so he is your level feedback. I'm writing this as I play it, so here goes:

Opening looked nice, if a bit bland. Personally I would have decorated the race gate, but it's ok I guess. The water was a bit misleading, I ended up swimming back to the begining. Genrally I would use non-infinite checkpoints, if I'd had lost all my lives, I would have quit (nothing with the level, I do at any level). Underwater bit was fun, reminded me of a bit in one of my levels. I actually ran out of time, but I was writing this. There's no need for paintinators in all three layers, it looks quite ugly to be honest. Very nice paintinator puzzle otherwise though, my fave bit so far. Spinning wheels were very fun to. And that's the end.

Overall, a fun level to play, with challenges around every corner. The visuals need work, but otherwise it's great. I give :star::star::star::star:

Thanks. I see what you mean about the water at the beginning being misleading, I should work on that (maybe either stick something down there, or just make it not possible to go down there.) Not sure about the checkpoint thing... personally I like the challenge of non infinite checkpoints, especially in a relative short level like this. I'm going to leave them in here, but I'll keep it in mind in the future. I'll also take out 2 of the paintinators, and try to add more decorations/scenery/visual stuff throughout.

+ Nice simple style.
- Gas hazard is too thick at the end of the zipline. When the zipline rolled into the groove, I got killed by the edge of the gas.
++ Platform slightly above the water showing the electric hazards below. Very few people to this. Kudos.
- Lights get in the way of jumping during the moving/rotating platforms.

Aww, it's over. Fun while it lasted.
Point bubble combos are vital to any good race in LBP, make sure to reward the player for their platforming skills.

Oooh... really...rats. I thought I had fixed both of those issues, thanks for letting me know about them! Going to go work on fixing that.

All right I tried your level and it's pretty nice! The environment was damp and dark but well done.
Other than layer problems and setting problems, such as the put in one layer unless you need to use three was visible, but you did well with the obstacles.
The race time was moderate though if I had it my way,
it would be a few seconds longer.

In all, everything was pretty done. No inconsistencies are in the level and the gameplay was moderate.

I played this level and I quite enjoyed it.
It is a medium length, medium difficulty, good looking level.
I'd fix gas placement though.

Thanks for the comments. Based partially off your comment OcamposMoon, and the fact that judging by the high score boards, a lot of people are just barely finishing the race, or not finishing it at all, I've made it a bit longer. Unfortunately, this does throw off the core of everyone who did finish the race before.
.jamo, thanks for pointing out to me that you can still hit the gas. I think it's been fixed now.
I also just tried playing the level in lbp2. It seemed way too dark (far darker than in lbp1) so I raised the lighting a bit.

MIce racing level, the race timer is wayyyy too short though, because you can always score more by finishing faster even if the timer is set high, but if it is set low then everybody barely makes points if at all. The first switch back seems a bit mis leading, perhaps another sign, so when you hop in the water you don't feel lost.There are a bunch of curved edges like you painted with the circle shape, it is fin, but it adds more depth to have then a bit more refined. For some reason I don't like it when point bubbles are held up by visible string a layer further than where the string is attached above, I think I saw some of that. The gas was not to simple in design, but still seemed small and smeared, also a bit out of place, like little clouds randomly placed in a shopping mall. The paintinator was good, the material you used seemed a bit out of place for a cave, perhaps make some rock stickers and cover the material, also big simple round shapes stick out a little in the organic cave feel. The cannon wa a good idea, adding a bit more detail too it would pay off, I loved the top bord you shoot down, wish you had it placed a bit more flush with the ground with it lands so it would have squished me...I would have laughed. THe wheels were nice looking, the edge before the wheels looks like it is cjust cut out, and I fell off once randomly. I could see the anti matter after that at the base, you should hide that big time, it does not blend in. Really nice racing level, oh hide the pistons in the water, they seem out of place with the design. Other than that go over it witht he corner edit anr touch it up. Had fun, good work, hope this feedback helps. If you could F4F my OK Space Accident it would be appreciated, I am getting frowny faces so I am not sure what still needs to be tweaked, I may have made it too hard.2011-01-24 02:39:00

Nice racing level. Piston have to be invisible, and moving checkpoint with their logic should not be seen. Rolling firethings on start get stuck on top in one moment. Other - good tempo, nice wheels at the end. Good work, gave it 4 stars.2011-01-24 18:15:00

Both of you: thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it, and have taken some of it into account and republished (I left in some of the inorganic stuff and visible logic, but hid some of the pistons as well.) I left in the visible cage logic- I actually intentionally made that visible so that players wouldn't even momentarily think they were trapped. @celsus: I'm a bit unsure why you think curved edges are bad, I think they make sense in an organic setting. Can you explain more at all? I really do want to know!

Overall, a fun level, although the Italian restaraunt-type music didnt give off a "cave" vibe to me haha. Paintinator parts were the best parts. Underwater levels usually aren't my thing but the underwater section of this level was just the right length. I give it :star::star::star::star:, nicely done.2011-01-25 01:12:00

Level Review:

I liked the race theme given in this level. The decorations were nice and really gave it a cavey feel. At some parts its kinda dark so its hard to tell where to go at times. I think the pistons in the level should not be visible because they dont seem to fit in with the cave backround. The gas kind of looks like it was sloppily thrown around, I think it should just be shaped up a bit. The underwater decorations were very nice. I enjoyed the paintanator parts, but I think the switches should have required more paint balls to activate. The part with the rotating ledges was fun and looked very cool. Overall it was fun to play.
