Bouncy stuff's not bouncy 'nuff [solved]

I was just playing around with the bounciness setting on the material tweaker and found that on 100% bounciness I'm getting something like 20% restitution with 100% bounciness... Which is not enough. Has anyone played around with bounciness and can tell me what factors affect it? I've not really got time to investigate fully atm, but I'm sure I've seen bouncier things in story mode - the marshmallows minigame for eg. Cheers. Is it less bouncy than it was in the beta? I'll take a look when I go pick up the game in a few hours (well, maybe.... I'll probably forget by then and be wrapped up in playing the game). i dunno if it's less bouncy than in the beta, but it's not very bouncy. Seems you need to set the bounciness of the impacting object to 100% as well, which is pretty naff (though it does make sense from a physics perspective), as that means everything bounces off the surface. I just want a ball bouncing off of any and all surfaces with a high restitution. Move / impact is gonna be unworkable in this scenario I think. | 2011-01-18 15:40:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

There were reports that some of the material tweaker options are relative to the original properties of the material, so it might be that you can only reduce the bounciness of a material with it. Nope, you are thinking of friction - you can increase the bounciness of objects (actually you can't reduce it, but then nothing in LBP inhenently bounces well anyway). Doesn't friction factor into that? Seemed like it on my pinball level. Purely a gut feeling though. Nothing scientific to back it up.
