We're all set for LBP2!

Archive: 23 posts

After some serious reorganization, we've got everything set and ready to go for LBP2's launch! It should feel innately familiar (we didn't add much and we only subtracted one thing) - if not, we probably did something wrong! In terms of the actual nitty gritty of what was changed, here's what we did:

We've got one central News forum for all news now. News is news - having two forums for that is messier than anything else, really.
Sharing the Fun is gone - but the forums inside it are not. They have simply been shifted to other areas. See if you can spot where we moved them.
The Level Showcase will remain one central hub for all levels. This is to reflect LittleBigPlanet 2's approach to the presentation of levels. We hope to offer ways to filter levels by type and other things like that in the future, but for for now what we've got will work fine. We can still show whether a level was made in LBP1 or LBP2 (along with lots of other info about each level (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=42529-Announcing-comprehensive-LBP.me-integration)), so it will be clear to you which is which. Our Cool Levels process hasn't changed - nobody has had any complaints about it...ever, really, so we didn't see a reason to touch it.
We now have way more stuff going on for each game. If you're just an LBP2 fan, you can minimize the LBP content using the minimize category button on the right side of the category bar - and vice versa for LBP fans and LBP2 content. We wanted to make sure that each game got specific categories so people could discuss the nuances of each one in more detail. We know Mm touts backwards compatibility and the like, but they're not perfectly equal, and shouldn't be treated as such in all ways.

That's about it. Hope everyone enjoys LBP2 tomorrow (or tonight, as the case may be ). Have fun!

I like the changes - the forum looks somehow cleaner now. I don't know why, but I think so at least.
Just one more day! *so excited!*

Personally, I can't wait to see that later ones. The first ones will mostly be rush jobs and won't have the same quality as the later ones... though I'm sure there are some that people have built in lbp and have just been waiting for lbp2 to finish, so there may be some good ones early on too.

Mmm, I wish. Unfortunately we in the UK and Ireland are deemed fourth-rate citizens by Sony and Mm so have at least another 3 days to wait before it's released here. It will probably be next week before the game is actually delivered!!

Oh sorry, be patient guys, I know it's hard! I'm buying mine tomorrow after work, if everything goes well

On topic, the new organization looks great like this! Only having 1 news section now is a good thing
Thanks!

A little suggestion :
would it be possible for you to change the color of the dark blue title bar...?
LBP2 in green, LBP1 in light blue, and LBP PSP in purple (for example). Dark blue being for the general LBP stuff...
It would make each section looks different and more noticable in one glance...

Something like that :

Great, now I just need the actual game

If we minimize something, will it remain minimized forever until I enlarge it? Because if I'm honest, I'm never going to go LBP PSP section.

Depends. Most games I have pre-ordered online from GAME have arrived a day early. That included Halo: Reach, CoD: BO and Forza 3... So it depends where you order from. I'm hoping it will arrive early for me, because I'm not in college this Thursday

Looks awesome! I will have to look into that. Might take some clever code to pull off because of the way vB builds those, but I might actually be able to. We'll see...

I really think that that's a great idea too! I took a web page design class last year and I completely understand how the code can get tricky at times. I assume there's just one big code for all of those bars instead of 3 or 4 different ones so it shouldn't be toooo difficult.

EDIT: I'm watching as the site creators update the thread. Very interesting..teehee... but some of the colors are the same just different from the original dark blue.

Over the past few hours i have noticed the addition of a story levels section for psp and lots of strange colours.
could someone confirm that this is the case? otherwise i will have to assume that rideing rocket cheetas (like i have been for 2 hours today) messes with my head.

Gah, the colors! They look... gah! D:

Serious note: the site looks weird now. I think it's because I've either grown accustomed to the dark blue bars, or because the background looks terrible with the colors... maybe both.

Oh really cool! Pleased you like the idea.. and that was quick!

If you don't mind, I suggest you something (my graphic designer background speaking here ) :

Actually, the idea was more to change the colors of the 3 games section (lBP1/lBP2/LBP PSP) to be more noticable quiclky and that people, even more newcomers, don't feel lost or confused, as each of those sections has the same sub-forums names
But I'm afraid that if each sections has a different colors, it will looks too "rainbowish"...

I guess your a testing things at the moment, but if you need some little help or feedback for the choice of colors,
I'll be ready to help

I agree. If you really want to try some things out something that looks good with the colors is a very dark grey (instead of the dark blue but still gradient like it) and then maybe, just maybe turn the page color to a very very very light grey. (Not the actual post boxes or replies but just the sides of the page and on the forum page.)

Just a suggestion but it still looks great however you do it.
