Worried about cheating...

Archive: 15 posts

I'm worried that score boards will become useless because of all of the new ps3 hacks coming out... I don't know why people are so pathetic that they need to hack trophies and leader boards, but I'm sure it will happen. Anyone know if MM has some kind of security in mind for this?2011-01-18 04:13:00

why do people even bother hacking, it takes away the fun and if your hacking to get trophies whats the point, how can you be prowed of the hard work you put into getting a trophy if you cheat to get it :/2011-01-18 04:21:00

Hum, I thought that all this PS3 hacking thing was about disabling the game system protection and to be able to play copied game disc and such... not about winning trophies or cheating scores... maybe I didn't understood well2011-01-18 04:29:00

It seems the only thing they could do in regards to hacking LBP2 are high scores. Which i can see as a problem since there are story mode high score pins (and even a trophy). They could reset the highscores like how other companies do (I remember reading that they did this to Sonic 4 on the Xbox)2011-01-18 04:31:00

Unfortunately, there are a few answers to this question. Firstly, some of them have absolutely no life whatsoever and probably still live with their parents at any age above 23. Second, some people are so ignorant, narcissistic and evil that they probably just do it for fun. I went to school with someone like that once. He hacked my PS3 account. He got a concussion after that (thank you nature for your heavy, hard brain-damaging rocks!). And that is why I was expelled from that school.
The moral here is that hackers have no souls. And NEVER hack my account unless you have a death wish. I will find you.

... Sorry about that, I'm still angry from that hack on my first PS3 account. I had so much stuff on it! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAH!!!!!! I have to see a therapist because of that "incident" (and a few other "incidents" that I'm not proud of). Again, sorry.

Note to self: Never get on the wrong side of this guy.

Well... if it's not affecting your account or playing... why would it even matter if people are hacking to get the high score? Trophies and pins that you earn on your own merit should be enough for you, and you should revel in the satisfaction of knowing you achieved them in an honest way and effort. So no... I'm not worried about people cheating at all.

I don't let strangers affect my life, and I think this would be a good philosophy for you to adopt if the concept of cheaters bothers you at all. They just aren't worth the time or negative energy you might spend letting them upset you.

I was thinking of making a mini game level in lbp2 and give away the top score a free PSN card... Guess like i can't now.

The only one thing I can see bad about the hacks is people copying others levels or objects then giving them away for free. I hope sony ups their Moderation team with more power to counteract stolen content.

While I understand that this is not according to the norm, there are various good reasons why a person might choose to still live with their parents at that point in their life.
Please do not heap those who have a good reason for doing so with people who have no life.

A completely unnecessary and inaccurate assumption, with no evidence or reasoning to back it up. I know you disagree strongly with hacking, but not all hackers are 23 and live with their parents.

Hackers hack for one reason and one reason only. Because they can, and they're not willing to put effort into things to achieve them.

TBH while I do miss the days of cheat devices and cheat codes in games (Some of them are fun, like ped riots in GTA or that passworded level in Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and of course Keys to the City mode in Crackdown) it sucks that some people don't understand that the point of cheats is for fun after you beat the game, and not to beat the game with or cheat in multiplayer. I've got no moral problem with what's going on with the PS3 right now, but the score hacking and whatnot if it comes to that will be very lame.2011-01-18 12:17:00

Today, mainstream usage of ?hacker? mostly refers to computer criminals, due to the mass media usage of the word since the 1980s. This includes what hacker slang calls ?script kiddies,? people breaking into computers using programs written by others, with very little knowledge about the way they work. This usage has become so predominant that the general public is unaware that different meanings exist. While the self-designation of hobbyists as hackers is acknowledged by all three kinds of hackers, and the computer security hackers accept all uses of the word, people from the programmer subculture consider the computer intrusion related usage incorrect, and emphasize the difference between the two by calling to security breakers ?crackers? (analogous to a safecracker).
I am familiar with the hacking scene; most of the hackers don't want trophy's or piracy; they care about getting the max out out of the hardware they own; the PSgroove didn't alow piracy, but some jerk changed a bit in the code, result? Piracy.
All the coders that have skill to do it (fail0verflow, geohot, etc)will not make it.
