http://lbp.me/v/wmr69w Sadly this level is 100% true I hope he doesn't come and hack LBP 2 too... And if anyone could investigate this hack/glitch level any further I would love that... | 2011-01-18 03:09:00 Author: chinook3 Posts: 453 |

I remember seeing people give the background away in the lbp2 beta. BEFORE the PS3s security system was compromised. Meaning, before the hacks. | 2011-01-18 06:55:00 Author: PPp_Killer Posts: 449 |

um what? I understand hacker but hacked what who when why how? I'm confused. I'm with robotoid on this one. You haven't given any background on this whatsoever. What's being hacked? Who's doing it? LBP.ME link? On a side note, the game is out. Yaaaay. | 2011-01-18 11:46:00 Author: gamerC0LA64 Posts: 274 |

I don't think this has anything to do with the recent security system compromise on the PS3, for one LBP2 isn't even out on the net yet (Well, technically it is, but I don't think it's widely available yet) and even then for the most part people who have the latest firmware hacked still can't run much of anything online. Nope, I don't think this was the work of those people. Of course there's always the risk of it happening in the future but I honestly don't think you'll see many malicious hackers in LBP, that's usually reserved for the more competitive games. We'll probably see modded levels though, but that could be a boon rather than a detriment. | 2011-01-18 12:04:00 Author: mogwaimon Posts: 53 |
Basically what's happened is George Hotz, the lead PS3 hacker, has released several encryption keys for the system. These keys will allow the average user to do many things, such as create a program and "sign" it as officially written by Sony, allowing it to be run on any PS3 system. Right now the hacking scene is going wild with these keys, allowing full access to things like game data and so forth. Fortunately though the LBP2 level files are encrypted, meaning they can't be tampered with until a key is found, so hopefully we won't see any trouble anytime soon. However, it's still very possible to load the game as a backup and modify the disc game data, and still get online. So watch out people. | 2011-01-19 13:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
It isn't a hacker. I had to quote to get the lbp.me link, but when I went there, it is a level with the tutorials background. He says in the description that it isn't a hacked thing, just that when you hit restart on the tutorial, it lets you mess around in edit mode. Also, you really need to know the difference between hacking and cracking. A hacker is one that changes code or physical objects into more useful things and distributes them if desired. For instance, I hacked together a few LEGOs and a flash drive to make a LEGO flash drive. A cracker is one that searches out security weaknesses and exploits them to the detriment of the makers. If the action is criminal, it isn't hacking, it's cracking. Get it right people. I am a hacker, not a cracker. Although, since I am white, you could also say I'm a cracker. | 2011-01-19 15:02:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
...Wait, someone finally reverse-engineered LBP's save data encryption? That would be almost too good to be true. And they got the tutorials background (the one with MyMoon and some clouds set against a purple sky) to be usable? That would be awesome! Are they giving it away? | 2011-01-20 20:26:00 Author: Blue Helmet Posts: 306 |

He went into a tutorial in LBP and restarted and it let him go into edit mode through a glitch, so he published it. | 2011-01-20 20:59:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
There's no evidence of any encryption breaking/reverse engineering of save or level files, but with this wave of hackers spreading like wildfire, the walls must be torn down at some point. | 2011-01-20 21:41:00 Author: Unknown User |
