How much would you pay for LBP2?
Archive: 21 posts
Like many of the people here, I've had more hours of enjoyment out of LBP1 than I've had out of any other game this generation. Hell, i've had more enjoyment out of LBP1 than any other game I've owned. In my opinion, LBP offers so much more than most games out there. I'd happily pay around ?150 for the standard edition of LBP2 alone, considering it's lasting appeal. So if money wasn't a problem, How much would you pay for LBP2? | 2011-01-17 15:05:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
I paid $80 for FF3 on SNES, $85 for Chrono Trigger on SNES, & $99 for Phantasy Star 4 on Genesis when they came out. The story mode by itself would only get $40 out of me tops, but knowing what I get out of it, create mode is what pushes it up to $100. That'd be like buying a really nice software program that comes with a pretty cool game. User content (with what I know in mind) wouldn't factor in to why I'd buy it, or pay more than $100 for what will ultimately be a 100+ level pack, 2 years in the making. You couldn't sell me on hypothetical 'endless fun' when I already know it's 'endless fail & splinters of win' | 2011-01-17 15:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
Great question!!! I am getting the CE edition (well actually two copies), so I am already paying more. Hmmmm.. how much more would I go? Seeing how much it is a software creation / game program, a bunch of fun story levels and more fun than any other online anything I have ever done in meeting and talking with friends from all over the world... wow.. I'd say even 100 - 150 is pretty cheap. | 2011-01-17 15:53:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
More than I paid LBP1 actually. The game is a loan, you're not aware but did you ever checked how much you paid for LBP1 if you bought all the DLCs? (around 60 $ of the game plus 200 $ and more for the DLCs) LBP2 will be the same, a money grinding machine that will make us all happy. | 2011-01-17 16:15:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
probably around $120. Mostly because the game has infinite replay value for me. | 2011-01-17 16:28:00 Author: Serpent541 Posts: 83 |
I'd pay the price tag, as giving any more would be silly. | 2011-01-17 17:13:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Well, I'd pay exactly $310. $250 for a new PS3 after mine YLOD's the day before release, and $60 for the actual disc. How great, eh? | 2011-01-17 17:18:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
You're not aware but did you ever checked how much you paid for LBP1 if you bought all the DLCs? I've bought all the DLC so I really don't want to know. I'd pay the price tag, as giving any more would be silly. But surely the game is worth more to you than the ?40/€50 that you paid. Games like Uncharted and God of War may have an "epic" story but they cost the same as LBP & LBP2. I think the feeling after getting positive feedback on a level, along with the many friends made from playing LBP makes it worth much, much more. Edit: Just added a poll. | 2011-01-17 17:21:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
If money was not a problem. Than I'd pay whatever it took to get LBP2 no matter how much. *mew | 2011-01-17 17:34:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Apparently I'd pay around $500 for it, considering I bought a PS3 just to play the first one | 2011-01-17 18:06:00 Author: Stuntofthelitter Posts: 10 |
I would pay $80.82 for the game because that's how much I paid with shipping. I got the collectors edition. WOO! | 2011-01-17 18:46:00 Author: The-Unknown-Thief Posts: 49 |
I would pay anything. | 2011-01-17 19:03:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
nice point about the ps3 entry fee. as soon as i heard the beta for 2 was starting, after a year of being too broke to get a PS3 again I sold my entire PS1 & 2 game collection (like 200 games) so I could get back in time and buy the very last LBP 250 GB bundle in the state and still be able to pay the rent lol. I can't believe it's finally coming tomorrow. | 2011-01-17 19:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'd pay what it's worth... which is what they are selling it for. No more.. no less. Let's not give the impression that we'd pay more for it folks... it could hurt our wallets in the future. | 2011-01-17 21:42:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

You don't know how marketing works. Do you really think anyone in control is going to see this thread and think " Hey look! These fools are willing to pay $120 for this, lets double the price of our games in the future!" No, that would only hurt their sales and they would make less profit in the long run. I'm assuming you are joking but anyway... This game is clearly worth more than $60 dollars when you compare it to all the other crap games out there selling for $60. | 2011-01-17 22:43:00 Author: Krondelo Posts: 136 |
You don't know how marketing works. I know exactly how it works and have friends/family in the business. Do you really think anyone in control is going to see this thread and think " Hey look! These fools are willing to pay $120 for this, lets double the price of our games in the future!" Nope... I certainly don't. No, that would only hurt their sales and they would make less profit in the long run. Correct. I'm assuming you are joking but anyway... Really? Doesn't seem like you are. It seems more like you are assuming I was being totally serious... especially since you stated that I don't know how marketing works. I clearly put one of these in for good measure in hopes that it was obviouse I was kidding. The internet REALLY does need a universal "I'm kidding/being sarcastic" button or smiley... don't you agree? This game is clearly worth more than $60 dollars when you compare it to all the other crap games out there selling for $60. I disagree, but that's because I'm a firm believer that the cost of living and entertainment in today's society is clearly more expensive than it needs to be or should be. I think games are way overpriced in general. That's why I'm really picky about which ones I buy. I'll agree though... that this game is leaps and bounds above most of the other garbage out there. I do think that they are all overpriced by about $15 to $20... this one included. | 2011-01-17 23:50:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

I guess I didn't notice your smiley until I was halfway through my post, thats when I stated about you joking. I also agree the cost of living is ridiculous. | 2011-01-18 00:53:00 Author: Krondelo Posts: 136 |
$59.99. :SH: | 2011-01-18 00:55:00 Author: ThePineapplizer Posts: 769 |
I don't like thinking about what I spent on LBP1 with all the costume packs and level kits I bought. But at least I'm still going to get use out of them for LBP2 aswell... so it's even better value. I'll probably end up paying more than ?100 for LBP2 once all the DLC has been released. That's me just pre-ordered the Collectors Edition for ?44.99 (I'm excited now!) | 2011-01-18 10:43:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Well, I have paid 37,20 ? here in Germany at amazon.de. I had a bad feeling of the price (really), because for me the game is worth much more. I remember the endless times I was playing and still playing LBP1. No game has brought me so much fun, though I never created a level. The community for this game is great and it offers hours and hours of fun, so I would have paid even 120 ? for the game. Having saved so much money now I can buy DLCs and new costumes, so MM is getting the money back in another way. LBP 2 is the only game I have preordered ever. Usually I buy my games when they are a little bit older, because they are then usually bug-free. But LBP 2 is a game that I must have from the beginning. I never desired a game so much. I paid R$ 445.00 (U$ 260) for the LBP2 CE, i would pay as much as was needed to play any LBP (1 or 2). | 2011-01-18 11:53:00 Author: Cauan-XV Posts: 491 |
