Hiya! A long winded Intro, YAY!

Archive: 9 posts

Hello, the forum told me to "introduce yourself", and who am I to argue with a forum :/

Going to write a little about myself while trying not to ramble off into a life story, which is what usually happens.

My names Dan, I'm 22 and from Kent, England.

I found LBPCentral after a played a cool piratey level and they had the URL posted beneith the description so I thought I'd check it out. It seems what I've found is a community of mature and fun people, which is a rare gem in the world of internet video game community sites these days lol.

I was a late comer to the PS3, I wasn't a fanboy or hate on it, I simply didn't see enough exclusives to interest me over the first few yrs as I was very happy with my life and friends on 360 , then I finally took the plunge last Febuary and bought one when I sore the huge back catalogue of games I could pick up for cheap then.

LBP is always something that interested me, I'd never played it before but heard a lot about it and so I picked it up the same time I bought my PS3 for ?15. When I got home and stuck it in I was amazed by what I had been missing. First thing that came to mind was that it seemed like a Youtube version of game creation, retarded comments left by 11yo's included

I started to play through the story and as I leared that I was collecting stuff for when I want to create later, I was hooked.

Strangely because of my lack of friends on the PS3, no mic, and no other MP games, whenever I turned it on I felt very 'disconnected' compared to my Xbox, and I just sort of... neglected it until last week :/

I started playing Ratchet and Clank which I had for a yr and never touched, and put little big planet in again and was shocked by the fun I was having lol (don't ask why, I don't know). I finished the story and started going through the tutorials to figure out what I needed to do to start my creation career. I always shy'd away from it before...

I could tell right away that just like mmo's I used to play, I was going to be hooked, and I wanted to be hooked lol, I've been missing that feeling for a while.

I'm a pretty terrible at creating at the moment, some things still confuse me and it took me about an hr to make a sponge grip lift the other day, but once I figured out how to do it I was so happy lol.

I am going to take this chance with LBP2 and really get stuck into the creating side and learn through trial and error, maybe one day I'll make something worth playing

Well done if you read all that lol, I get carried away...

I still don't have any friends on my PS3 apart from 4 people I know on my Xbox, so feel free to add me if you like, I'd like to get to know some of the LBPcentral community and get help or advice where possible, and I always enjoy a good game. LBP is probably the only game that has me laughing out loud due to the randomness of it all lol.

Anyways, that's me! nice to meet you and I hope to become an active member of the community

P.S: Is something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0744012759 worth picking up for someone looking to get into creating? Its the LBP2 Bradygames guide book for those who don't want to click the link.

I didn't know they even existed, interesting though. I suppose it could be helpful, if it was me however, I'd forgo buying a guide and learn from this place instead. At the very least it's a lot more fun then reading a book.
