I was wondering the same thing today. I called up my local Gamestop. They told me that they have enough preorders to cover those who requested the CE and 10 left. They have 20 people who ordered the regular edition so all I have to do is hope that out of those 20 people, at least 11 of them stick with the regular edition. Then I'll be waiting early outside of the Gamestop to be the first one to pick up Little Big Planet 2 CE. I'm going to call tomorrow to see if the 20 people decided to switch to the CE or not.

I really hope I get this.

Having worked at GameStop I can say with some certainty that if you live in a fairly populated area you have a good shot at buying the CE on launch day if you really try. A lot of stores might only have enough to cover preorders, but if you make a few calls you'll definitely be able to find a place with extras. Also, despite the relative scarcity upon launch of certain things at GameStop, 90%+ of the time you can walk straight into a Best Buy and pick up what you want on launch day.

If both of those fail, GameStop only holds reserves for 48 hours, and almost guaranteed there will be people who don't pick up their CE in that time. So yeah, if you don't have a preorder you can almost certainly still get the CE in most places, you might just end up calling around or waiting.

Wait, what? I thought that, if you reserved a game with it's full value, Gamestop would reserve it longer?2011-01-16 18:49:00

Best Buy still has them available, but you might want to act quickly...a few days ago in the LA area they had stock in the six stores in my area, now there are none left now

Mine is from GAME, I pre-ordered it, but apparently if I show up on the release date, they will reserve a copy for me. If you plan to actually get the game, I recommend pre-ordering it from a store that will reserve you a copy. Or, at least give you a copy on the release date 2011-01-16 20:11:00

Nope, only 48 hours. Of course that doesn't mean that your money is lost or you wont be able to get it still, just that the hold guarantee is only good for the first two days. Depending on how the individual store is run or how well they know you, they might extend that (I know I definitely did what I could for CE reservees at my store).

In my experience this usually isn't a problem, because people who order a CE of something and have any intent to pick it up almost always show up on the first day. I agree that it kind of seems like a lame policy, but it's how GameStop does things and good to keep in mind.

Of course, this works out great for those of you who want a CE and didn't order one. Definitely people who, for whatever reason, never pick them up (which would be the reason for a limited time hold). It's like adopting a puppy; help a LBP2 CE find a good home!
