Logic is simply as collection of parts put together to make things do various tasks that you've assigned them to do. Basically "logic" it just a collection of things such as sensors, switches, materials such as dark matter, pistons, winches and anything else needed.

For a lesson in logic I recommend you check out LBPCentrals "Logic Lab" levels in LBP to get a grasp of logic but it maybe in vain to learn all that now since LBP2 is changing how these things work. And thatrs just around the corner. It's up to you.

so you saying,

ok i have sponge make a rectangle than add a pistion to a thin layer of say metal and make the sponge go up and down is logic? so anything which is combined with something else is logic?

Logic in easiest way is say it like level scripting in form of logic (or rather digital) circutry or more like automatication circutry. It makes level do stuff depending on event in the level for example player sensor detects player and it opens the door, and stuff like that, you can complex that by for example adding timer delay for 3s, so player need to wait 3 seconds in order to open the dor. Key to lern logic to set up mind to scripting the events on the level you need to think like this "this happens if this happens and if we got this and this, if not then it need to do this" and represent that using logic components

So it add interaction to the level, conditionally activating something (do THIS is button A AND button B is pressed OR just button C), delays, sequenced actions etc. etc.

If you not get it play logic pack and see some tutorials from it ;] you might get it this way since it got demo., difference are that LBP2 has logic componets build in nativly to the game and you dont need those big piston components

You can try also playing by More Logical Survival Game or CALTRON, both games are one room and the rest of the level is logic circuitry and it's fully powered by that.

Simple explanation - logic is what happens inbetween the input and the output. Standing on a button would be an input, a door opening would be the output. If you want more control over what happens (e.g. the door permantly staying open), that is where logic comes in.2011-01-15 12:45:00

so logic is just adding more depth and making something more complex like you said making three second delay,2011-01-15 12:46:00

ohh so how would you make the door permanently open?

Avoid double posting - use the EDIT option

Uh, how could you permanently open a door... idea!
I guess your door would be connected with a piston to, say, a ceiling.
You could open it permanently by connecting... wait, I'll draw a little image series for better explanation. brb

Here's a picture
And yeah, really play the logic pack as it explains things like this

Yes, the Logic Pack is the easiest way of learning the basics of logic.

Logic in LBP2 is much easier to use, and the in-built tutorials will actually teach it to you, unlike LBP1.

Logic is decision making.

When telling a computer what to do, it's simply making decisions based on whether something is "true" or "false".

So, in NuclearFish's example of a button, when you stand on a button the output goes from "false" to "true". The decision you are trying to make is "when the button is pressed (true), open the door (decision). That's basic logic.

All other logic is simply more complex versions of that basic rule. Such as "If I'm dirty (true) AND there is a bath around (true) AND the door is closed (true), clean myself (decision - output)".

In the LogicPack there are tools and explanations for how you can have LittleBigPlanet make decisions, in order to make your games more compelling. LittleBigPlanet2 has these tools built in.

Oh and one more thing logic happens even with simple player sensor to piston, without saying permanently

"If player is near, open the door, i player go away close the door"

You can call that logic too

i was gonna say play the sites logic tutorial or my one which is not as nice looking but easier to understand logic guide but you cant and lbp2 changes the way they look and fuction, they are alot better tho it just takes getting used to it. ill tell you about some of the switchs, an AND switch is a switch that say when you push one button AND another one that is connected to the switch it will open a door. its as simple as that, an OR switch gives you the choice of pressing one button OR the other to open a door. hope this helps and have fun in LBP2 2011-01-16 06:29:00
