patapon level.

Archive: 7 posts

i was thinking of recreating patapon in little big planet. sackboy would be the flag holder, and all the patapons would move in relation to the flag pole. in the meantime, they are shoooting javelins, arrows, and smashing things in front of them.on top of each patapon and tatepon (your mortal enemy) would be a pressure switch that would destroy that person. it would be impossible to jump on top of other characters, so only your army of patapons have a chance at destroying the tatepons and discovering IT.

what do you think?

i'm not sure if the patapons should be monsters or machines. as a monster, i can sync their jumps with the emmiting of objets. as a machine, i can make them more complex, buy giving them multiple commands.

oh yeah, by the way. is there any way to stop them from doing frontflips? its really annoying.

also, can you guys think of any ways to make music signifigant in this level? i also had an idea to have sackboy above the patapon army, and have him slide alone with his men. he would control the flag holder by inputting commands with 4 drums (like the patapon does in the game.)

right now, i dont know if it would be possible. sounds like a butt load of work. but if i can do it, aw hell, that would be tight! i could make different commands make them move like they do in the game.

im having trouble figuring out how to have them move. should i use a wheel? its important to me that each patapon only takes up one major layer (so that i can have new patapons join from behind bushes.) how can i accomplish this, while making the patapon stable enough to stand up and fight?

edit: i figured it out, how to get it to move like i want. i have 3 wheels made of dissolve.the left wheel is rotating backward. the middle is rotating forward and is dominant over the left wheel (if they both are touching the ground, the forward moving wheel will spin only).this wheel will stop moving if Yaripon gets too close to Hatepon. the third wheel has a regular bolt, and is attached to a piston. If hatepon moves backwards, the piston will move the third wheel to the ground, lifting the middle wheel, and make Yaripon move backwards.

also, Yaripon is made up of entirely dissolve material. if he gets bumped on the head, he will give out a death scream and dissapear.

cool, right? with this method, i should be able to coordinate an entire army of patapons to hatepons movements. then, the great patapon (you) will only need to control hatepon to control your entire army. just like in the game!

wow great idea. i loved the game and while reading your discription it all startet to form up in my mind. very doable, but timeconsuming thou ^^.
what did you use to get the pata- / tatepons to die? presure switches or magnet-switches witch respond to the oposite fractions weapons?
