Deep Forest Adventure

Archive: 6 posts

Hey there LBPCentral! I just published my LAST LEVEL on LittleBigPlanet 1 before I get LittleBigPlanet 2. It is called Deep Forest Adventure and is probably the most complicated level I've made in terms of logic switches. The funny thing is, the level itself is fairly simple and straightforward compared to my other ones. Much more basic platforming and straightforward puzzle solving.

This level was made to make you scratch your head in some parts to figure out how to proceed and on other parts make you sit on the edge of your seat hoping that your next jump isn't your last! The ultimate goal is to traverse this colorful and dangerous forest to make it to your new home amongst the trees.

Unlike most of my levels, this one has only infinite checkpoints so those of you with poor platforming skills (or just lazy) can fail all you want with little consequence. I didn't really wanna make this level too frustrating.

Like the description says, there is a hidden race in the level and if you activate it, it spawns 3 unique race boats (custom made by me! ) in the pond and lets you skip the pond puzzle outright. If you activate the race you will receive these three boats at the end of your journey. I don't really wanna give away how to activate the race but if you guys ask me I'll post the location of the activation point so even those players out there who don't like looking for hidden stuff can still take advantage of the race points.

If you ace the level you get a special prize: The entire working Treehouse itself! Once you make it to the scoreboard you'll see what it looks like. I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who likes to get a nice surprise for playing well.

Anyway, I hope to get alot of plays and maybe some decent feedback if you're feeling up to it. If there are any questions about how to progress in the level or if something breaks in it and you can't continue then please post here so I can fix it.

I liked it! I found the race gate, though the first time around I didn't actually manage to finish it on time.

Altogether a great level! It was fairly lengthy, had some decent obstacles, lots of hidden point bubbles, and it looked pretty nice too. It got five stars from me

Cool, glad you liked it! I had some complaints from a few friends that they had trouble finding out where to go next in some parts, did you have problems like that or are my friends just too lazy to look forward? 2011-01-15 18:07:00

Nothing that I couldn't sort out. There was a bit with a cave where I ended up going the wrong way (there were two paths through it, once by swinging across mushrooms on the ceiling and one on the floor) but I like have multiple paths anyway 2011-01-15 18:17:00

Yeah, with it being dark like that I guess it could be a little confusing. Making it through the upper portion (mushroom swinging) puts you on the easy path and the bottom one puts you on the hard path. The easy path has more point bubbles but the hard path is a little easier to combo the point bubbles. Were you having difficulty with how to open the door from the bottom path?2011-01-15 20:46:00

I had a good time playing this level. The platforming was fun and varied.
You did a good job with all the custom designed objects. Certain parts
early on felt a tad bland but nothing to worry about. The underground
part with the water looked great.

I was in a certain underwater area for a while. I like what you did with
using the grabbing to switch layers and get past another layer. I think
after I had delivered a couple of the R1 floaties and triggered a switch
I didn't realize I was supposed to back track at that point and was
looking for someway to progress past that point. probably over 5 minutes.
Maybe you could add some clue to go back after finishing that part.
Or maybe I just didnt notice something.

The level was a nice length and I felt I had choices in many parts on
which way to go. It added a sense of exploration. I can tell you put
a good amount of work into the logic and it makes the level just that
much more fun to play.

I'll play it again later with a friend and see if I can come up with some
more useful feedback. Thanks!

Try the level in my sig if you'd like. I can use some feedback for that.

aloha
