LBP 2 and the Guinness Book of World Records

LBP 2 is primed to set at least 2 new world records for the Guinness Book of World Records. But certain players are poised and ready to try for an additional 5! These will be streamed live on the PS blog:

* Longest marathon playing LittleBigPlanet 2
* Longest marathon playing a platform video game
* Most video game genres played in one video game in 24 hours
* Most user-generated video game levels played in 24 hours
* Most user-generated video game levels played in a marathon

The 2 that LBP 2 will definitely receive are:
* Most gaming genres in one video game
* Most player-created levels in one video game

Most gaming genres in one video game

Thats interesting, LBP is not only game like that, Starcraft 1 & 2 and Warcraft 3 also had custom maps with many genres of games (not to mention those games popularized Tower Deferences) and there map editor allows to do a lot of more stuff. Funny thing about this:

My younger sister was browsing her book order catalog from school. I was right behind her reading too...
...and then we literally FREAKED when we saw Sackboy in there! xD
I noticed then it was part of Guinness World Records Book 2011. But that didn't suprize me much. Why?

I got the Guinness Book Of World records for christmas and when I looked in the "Games" section, I was slightly miffed that LBP didn't get a mention. I was half thinking of writing to Guinness myself suggesting records like "Most User Generated Content."

But this is even better! 'Grats to CC getting involved too!

(Off-topic) - I'd love to take part in some form of event for LittleBigPlanet, but the majority of stuff seems to be located in the US. Considering it's a British game, I thought they're would be more here. Are there? Am I just looking in the wrong places?		2011-01-14 17:13:00

This is a unique ad campaign indeed... it's good clean hype!


I've got a couple other records you could break if someone were brave enough to que up my latest 'Gravel Marvel' levels.


Most pent-up rage/frustration directed at a single user.
Most consecutive rides on a 'dust bin' atop telephone wires.
Most time spent in a single level wondering, "Why?"
Most 'expletives' used at a media covered launch event.
Most Alex Evans refrences in a level played at a Launch day event.


I think I might also give me a shot at the covented... 'most hearted' only to be later 'un-hearted' creator of a level played at a launch day event pin... I've got my eye on!

I can say that I'm feeling quite rested right now. I've had plenty of sleep and my fingers are loose from LBP2 and Black Ops. I actually didn't drink any energy drinks this week so that my tolerance is a bit low when we start this endeavor! I'm so excited to shoot for some World Records but honestly I'm more excited to finally meet Gevurah22, Lugey, and the Sackcast boys in person!! This next week is going to be pure awesome and were going to have a lot of fun playing LBP2 non-stop. Staying up for 50 plus hours is not an easy endeavor so if you can please come support us either in person or online!! Talking to you guys and meeting new awesome people is the best way to forget about sleep 2011-01-14 22:28:00

It does make sense. I guess we'll just have to see..LBP1 levels are technically part of LBP2 with BC, but there were a ton of Beta levels that were awesome and I can only hope they manage to make it to the retail side of things :? You know what I mean 		2011-01-15 00:25:00

There was actually a user who got the game early and imported his levels from the beta...

But, nonetheless, I am saddened I'll miss the CC interview. The schedule is a bit wonky, specially given the target audience, but hey, it is a marathon. I'm a few subway stops away from the Sony Store in NYC. I thought I read the first 500 buyers of LBP2 get an autographed copy from MM. Now, it's cool to have an autograph and all, but my concern is, they said this begins the 17th; so yeah, that is today. Does this mean we can purchase a copy directly at the Sony Store today because of this event? Or, do we still have to wait for the 18th? I just want it -- not concerned about an autograph. I called the Sony store on Friday and a salesmen didn't know what I was talking about. Then he said "hold on, let me see" - then he gets back on and says "I think you gotta wait until the 18th". I definitely think you would have a right to enforce some kind of punishment for here... or at least send them a warning message so they know you're watching

Nope. The PS3 fills the inbox until your hard drive has no more space - and then it deletes old messages to make room for new ones.

Nothing we can do about it, sadly. All I can do is be vocally against such behavior and disassociate the site from people like that. At least that way, visitors and members know our stance on it, and know that we're not involved in that kind of stuff.

After seeing the announcement about the spam, I feel the need to do a bigger apology.

I'm sorry. It started when I figured out the PSN, and told my friends that I would send a message called 'The Game'. Doing so, two of my friends asked for the PSN, and not realizing at the time what trouble it would cause, I told them. From there, things went crazy. I got carried away. Some people were ROFLing at what I said, and some were just shaking their head. Eventually, mostly everyone knew the PSN and started the spamfest you see going on now. I didn't realize the trouble I would cause, and I apologize.

Im prolly the only one brave enough to do this but I probably caused alot of this. I tweeted the psn of the user which i will not say. I sent two of the participants tweets apologizing but my friend showed me this:
"Even more sadly, we've recognized some of those names as members of the LBPCentral community. So, here's what we're doing about it: If you've decided to join in on the spam and we catch you at it, your name will be added to a list. At the end of the livestream (on Wednesday), we will blanket-ban everyone on that list for what we decide is an appropriate amount of time (permanently is certainly a possibility). there are actually 2 reasons why

1) to turn off the message notifications

i think most people would look pretty bored at this point...i am just as excited for this game as everyone else, but I cant imagine playing for 50 hours straight.!

especially considering all three of the people on the team have had the beta for several months so its not even like its an ALL NEW thing for them..

i could understand a 50 hour creation session...but playing the whole time is pretty amazing		2011-01-18 01:44:00

Player servers died and it's impostible to re run the stream, so if you got working stream right no, i recommend not to refresh2011-01-18 01:55:00

i had a diff stream on two computers...now i restarted and have no streams

ahh I see they take breaks and switch ps3s...I was going to be really impressed about a PS3 running the game for 18+ hours. Plus it fixed the spamming problem.2011-01-18 15:11:00

According to them the spamming never stopped, they just turned off the notifications so it wouldn't appear onscreen2011-01-18 15:23:00
