Prerequisites for getting on cool pages?

Archive: 10 posts

Just recently someone mentioned to me that since I'm not a psn plus member(or whatever) and
that because I have only one extra content purchased that the chances of any of my levels
making it to cool pages is significantly lower.

Anyone know if this is true? after a bit of examination it certainly seems so. I can publish or republish
any of my creations and they never appear anywhere higher than page 18 on "new levels" yet my
friend and others can publish 20 of the same empty "scoreboard only" levels and have them all on
page 2 of cool pages.

I hope It's not true. Any real tricks to it? note: publishing multiple times and republishing/ updating,
posting on forums, getting video and written reviews, while they all help get a few plays has NOT landed
me on cool pages. Even page 17, for a few minutes.. Uh so, any insight?

Also, I understand the fact that several thousand levels are being published each and every day.
And that getting a spot on cool pages is like winning the lottery. Still seems to be more to it though

Tell your accquaintance to not be such a liar.

That has nothing to do with the cool pages, the place is simply too cluttered with spam levels, so any chance of actual levels there is greatly reduced, it is extremely difficult for ANYONE to make it there these days, m8.

So...yueah, whoever said that more DLC = more chance to get int cool pages, is pretty full of it.

None whatsoever.

You just need lots of plays/replays on your level. That's so survivals do so well.

How is it then that levels with only a few plays get put on cool pages? I saw just recently 10~ish blank levels all by the same person
on page 2 of cool pages. I'm constantly seeing mediocre levels that get 1,000~ 13,000 plays and up in less then 24 hours time.
I know there is a very small chance of a newly published level appearing on cool pages and thats what gets it all the plays quickly.

People publishing a bunch of blank stages and they all make cool pages? thats like winning the lottery 3x in the same day?_?
There's something more here than just luck. I bet we have 100,000 + amazing top notch 5star levels out there floating around
in obscurity with less than a hundred plays in over a years time. And most will never be found.

So any tactics? or just keep republishing and keep my fingers crossed?

Most likely because that person has a "fan base" (using that term very loosely), and simply key links their new levels from their already popular ones.

This thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=42920-A-Last-Push-to-Save-the-Cool-Pages!&highlight=gravel) may be of interest to you.

Essentially the cool pages are a broken system subject to abuse.

Ah thanks for the link, yeah I remember seeing those levels on cool pages a week ago
and wondering; why is ladylyn upset with cool pages when she's got 4 levels on the
first page?

But I understand the point that was trying to be made. I like the idea they came up
with about level linking with other players that are already there on page 1.
I read something about publishing over a level if you have a spot on cool pages to
get that spot or something. Not sure I understand how that works.

Anyway 3 ppl lastnight had 5 levels each on page 2. All of these were blank, unnamed levels
with 0~4 plays and maybe 1 heart each. how did those get there if its based solely on plays?

Hm... I think it is something to do with the age of the level

But I found a forum post on it.

Hope it displays correctly.

Maybe the levels you were talking about had 'Glowing rings' around them...that means they're only new levels and are temporarily there. If they're not 'Glowing' then they're stuck there pretty much :I2011-01-23 07:33:00

I don't know HOW in the world it happened, but my first ever published level made it into the Cool Levels page the day after it was published. I suppose it may have been a freak accident, and I got lucky, but only shortly after publishing, my level was off the map. I personally don't think it's that great, but apparently everyone else did. In a matter of 3 days it got 17,000+ plays. Sooo, it seems as though this is something that doesn't ordinarily happen. Just 10 minutes after publishing, it already had quite a few plays. I know this doesn't explain much, but at least it gives insight into the fact that "unpopular" people can legitimately make it onto the Cool page. Somehow..... >_>2011-02-10 14:52:00
