My new Electro-Jazz

The instrumental is apparently better

I can't say much more than that. I started this on an afternoon two days ago, and stayed up both nights doing it. I'd just reinstalled some VSTs and I wanted to give them a whirl with Cubase 5

It's not perfect, but I want to try something else anyways now

Comments and such please

That's quite fantastic. I like the breakdown about 50-60 seconds in. It's very well done. I'm not sure what the voice is from (Season 1 of Look Around You?), so that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I'm a fan of the song, though!2011-01-12 21:51:00

Agh! Infinite loop!

Interesting sense of humor in that video, haha. Hilarious.

A good friend said he'd like a version without the samples, and thus lo and beholden. This version shows off the arrangement a little bit better anyways

I really suck at giving feedback to music (especially with mixing and mastering), but by Joe, I'll have a good bash at it anyways...

You have some fairly standard quality VST's here, but they do the job without being intrusive with the exception of the buzz sounds at the very beginning (not sure how you acheived those sound). I thought the synth sounds were hit and miss with the synth introduced at 1:02 being one of the better ones. The strings, whilst brief were pretty superbThe sample source was pretty funny by the way, and an interesting source to sample, however I felt a lot of those voice-over bits felt a little random and slapped in there with no purpose. That being said, I don't think they do any harm either. Would be cool if you could cut the phrases up word by word and did some clever rhythmic stuff with them, but not essential as you already have a cool track here.

More than anything, I really like how this track flows between the different sections and definitely has a proggy (we'll pretend that's an actual word) sort of feel, definitely held my interest right until the end. The drum sounds and arrangement are definitely above decent too, did you sample them or are they VST, soundfont or what? All the parts are blended together really well other than the samples I mentioned earlier too. Can't think of much else to say other than "Good job"! My favourite section was 2:14. ;P

Ahh, thank ye muchly.

With regards to the sampled voice...that's why I was encouraged to do an instrumental version. Though I do like the sample 'and this is the answer to all your problems'.

It has a real DJ shadow feel to it, as seen in this example. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7rZGZLbsLs&ob=av3em) Plus in retrospect I think the voice drew away from composition too much, letting the fun jazz chords fade away rather than being basked in...

And yeah, that break in the middle seems to be quite popular hehe.

Amazing. I've heard so much about your musical genius from everybody in that was in the beta. Listened to all your music on one of Cog's videos. Well done!2011-01-14 00:23:00

Jeez, I'm jealous now. I've delved into music a few times hoping my creative juices would be sponged into something pleasant to the ears, but I've had no success I can't really critique it too much because my lack of knowledge over the subject, but I enjoyed listening to it and I hope you'll continue to display more of your work for us.2011-01-17 02:32:00
