Grassland Platformer

Archive: 6 posts

I got bored one day and decided to do this, just messing around and doing whatever I thought of for each part at first. Then, I got a little fancy and did scenery (trees and bushes) as well as lighting (as you'll see in create mode), so as to help give it a little bit of an atmosphere.

It ain't the most shiney or perfect platformer, but it's a nice simple little challenge for those who want a somewhat-easy level to play and beat. I hope you enjoy what i've done here, and I hope that whatever feedback/suggestions you give will help me improve it so it can be an even better level if possible.

Enjoyed the level. It was simple and smooth. The jumps were nice, and it was like a LBP platformer all the way. The infinate check points were bad because it was alreadt a bit toooooo easy. Perhaps more objects added to teh level, but keeping them as simple as the level design would be nice, I really liked the minimal design, but in a few areas I wanted a little more minimal added to it, like the race end point was just flat with nothing. The score bubble put into the platforms leaving the bumps should be avoided, it does not match with the level. I could see the level floor, which almost worked for the simple design, but perhaps a seconf layer of material below (lifting the whole level up and placing it on that layer), would make it look much better, then add water and you will have a more full looking level. Maybe add a corny little plot, since platformers always seem to have something like looking for your lost toad or collecting marbles...you know thinggs that really make no sense. Great lay out for a retro feel, if you have more thermo you could add more to the level, great job, F4F wise you could give me feedback on my OK Worlder level, but any listed needing feedback I still am looking to improve, so it is up to you.2011-01-14 20:43:00

I'm back, and I updated it a bit.

I first fixed the score bubbles that were causing that 'dip' in the platforms was fixed. Then, I added a couple more bushes. Then, I added sounds (mainly birds and wind noises) to enhance the level.....ish. I even went and changed the infinite life checkpoints to be regular checkpoints, so it wouldn't be as easy as it was with them.

I then went on to add water (since I finally bought the PotC pack), and even did a little waterfall at the beginning to spruce that first important jump up a bit.

So yeah, hopefully those changes help to make the level more fun to play, and I hope that you guys at least give it a try once.

I'll F4F this in a bit, I have to go to bed soon. I'm definately going to play this level. This level has the same name as my first level! Play it if you want
It's on the PSN: robinlint - not robbit10.

As you said, this is pretty much a traditional platformer
during LBP's younger days.
Linear stuff, though the setting looked stormy for such a traditional level.
And the creatures were pretty useless; some didn't even bother moving to kill me.
Though, as a suggestion, make the race at the beginning instead of
placing it in the middle of the level.

Overall, this level gets :star::star::star::star:.

If you can, please try my level Sanctuarium. The details of the level
can be found at my sig below. For feedback, post it on the thread there.

Thanks!
