Grey Tweed

Archive: 3 posts

When creating this level, I had two things in mind. The first was me freaking out because I only made 2 levels on LBP, and the other was that I wanted to construct a level with the only material being my favorite, Grey Tweed. Hope you enjoy!

And I'll do about 5 F4Fs. I'll edit if I am willing to do more.

Hi Tupandactylus.

Oakie doakie....will go have an eye test tomorrow after playing that game lol, all that tweed REALLY hurt my eyes!
If i'm to be totally honest, it was just a very average level (sorry). There was nothing that hasn't been done many many times before, and it all was, well, a little bland...

Ok thats my honesty that hurts bit out of the way, how about a few positive suggestions? OK, OBVIOUSLY YOU WANT TO STICK WITH THE grey tweed THEME, well how about using lights to alter the mood? Use the global light setting switch thingy to trigger different effects...maybe some fog in places, or darker in others, of twilight in others. Add a few lights and LEDs especially if you are going to play around with global light settings.

Try and think of a few origional puzzles, and a personal opionion here, get rid of the maze! lol. Thats been done way way WAYYY too many times.

Maybe try adding a bit of comedy...how about a pair of glasses at the end, and an eye sight wall chart, saying that after all that, you'll be needing them lol.....seriously though, comedy could help anlot here. How about a few silly noises on the things you grab onto...anything to make people chuckle, and maybe want to keep playing to see whats next.

Keep going with it ok, you can NEVER make the perfect level, but if you can learn from peoples reviews/ideas then great!

If you could F4F my level 'house of the flying diggers' and note how many changes I have made since I first published, you'll see that creating is never ending lol

Just played your level. And while like the other reviewer said, many things have been done before, I was happy with the distance of the jumps, the camera angles and most of the pacing. The sticker on the lever did not cover it all, so it took away at that point, and the maze was a little played out, and could have used a slight corner edit. The earlier part with the curved path you jump onto seemed a little weird and a corner edit could make it look unweird. I liked the flow and I liked that I could finish with no weird glitches stopping me. Putting more tweed effects could help, a tweed puzzle, maybe more angles and shapes could pull th eplayer inmore. There was no going behind a tweed foreground wall to make it seem to have more depth, no window to behind (even if it was to more tweed). Adding parts to make it go faster could help too, like a tweedapult over a chasm. The grab wheel thingy stuck out because it seemed to have too many parts to it to match the rest of the area, perhaps making it a upsdiedown triangle you grab with the roller hidden may match the rest of the level more. I liked the race, felt it was well tested, but you could add much more to the level, like the simple black line of death fog below, make it so thin it is invisible and then put a thin layer of foreground tweed to add some depth to it, even though the fog will be invisible, you will see you are falling out of the amera before you die, and it will look a bit more interesting. But good level, liked playing and beating it, and worth spending more time on. F4F wise you can pick any level I have posted here, I have a few race levels you could pick one to give me feedback on, "OK Chicken Race", "OK Worlder" or "OK Picnic" are all race ones, would love any criticisms you could find to help me improve.2011-01-14 08:07:00
