So this is the thread, where I want you to post your favourite music genre(s), band(s) and possibly, if you can, tell your favourite song(s). I would also like you to tell what kind of music you don't like, you think is weird or something like that.

Oh boy, my musical taste. It's nearly impossible to describe what 'my' music would be, but Here's a quick rundown of some of the artists I like:

Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Biggie Smalls, Justice, Daft Punk, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Breakbot, Nirvana, Oasis, The Beatles, Led Zep, Eric B. and Rakin, Tupac, Gorillaz, Foo Fighters, Metallica, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, DJ Fresh, Fatboy Slim, Massive Attack, The Stranglers, Afroman, DJ Baron, Bob Marley, The Streets, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gangstarr, High Contrast, Mr Scruff, RJD2, Plan B, Rage Against The Machine and The White Stripes but to name a few!

You might say I have a somewhat 'eclectic' taste in music. Im sure you can find someone you like in that list!

Now, as for music that I don't like...........

Metal, pretty much all sorts of it, also some Rock.

And for bands that often listen:

Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden (probably going to see them live again this year), Anthrax, Helloween, Hammerfall, Children of Bodom, Avenged Sevenfold, AC/DC, Dream Theater, Papa Roach, In Flames, Jimi Hendrix (Only some of his songs)

I enjoy all facets of the music from party & gangsta rap (old Death Row, 90's east coast mafioso, even Lil Wayne), consciouss thought (Common, Blackstar, K Rino, Nas, Immortal Technique, Goodie Mob, 2 Pac), raw lyricism (Tonedeff, Canibus, Wu-Tang, Eminem, Ras Kass), abstraction (Company Flow, Outkast, Cannibal Ox, Cee Lo), freestyle (Juice, Supernatural), urban poetry slam (Saul Williams, Old Souls), advanced beatbox (Rahzel, Kenny Mohammed, Buttercup), championship & exhibition scratch (DJ Q Bert), live instrumentation & cross polination (PROJECT Trio, Jazzmastas, The Roots, Wyclef, Lauryn Hill Unplugged), the pro battle circuit scene (Grindtime etc)... as well as the grahf art & dance side. I even like international hip-hop in languages I don't even speak. UK grime is killer... so's Chicano.

tbh I don't really listen to band music, though here and there I'll give an ear or two.

I'm pretty into orchestral music. Aren't those strings so... awesome?
In general, I like songs that are overall catchy, epic, beautiful, awesome, or some large combo platter of all of em at once.

Likes: Rap ( french montana is doing it ATM) and UK rap, sounds wierd but we do have good rap artists.
DUBSTEP!!!!!!!! I dont think most of you know what this is? once you discover it welcome to a world of wobbling bass caressing your brain.
Piano music is very very relaxing so most piano music.
Personal favorite is erhu music, while I dont listen to this everyday....it is the single best instrument ever.

I cant just understand it... WTF is wrong with people not listening (or in this cas, reading). I said that I don't want any haters and trolls here. I said in the very first page that no negative commenting on anyone elses music likes but still there are! Well... At least you didn't say: ''Metal music sucks it's full crap it can't be listened to''. Saying that you dislike it is ok (Since it's one of the things I asked for) but why hate it so much that you watch my advice thru your fingers and ignore it. I'm currently raiding the historical musical archive to find the roots of the music I knew and loved as a teenager.

As a teen I listened to stuff like Sepultura, Slayer, Metallica, Cathedral, Primus, Pantera, Carcass... then traced the roots of all of these bands back to Black Sabbath;
Black Sabbaths main influence was Blues & Jazz.
So I started listening to earlier and earlier stuff.
Right now I'm listening to blues/jazz from circa 1930's to 1950's... and there is some cracking stuff there. All of the rudiments of modern music are experimented with during that time frame.

I've also got a soft spot for 70's funk and 60's Motown.

There's no real need to listen to anything modern, when there is so much good stuff from the past (of a much higher standard of musicianship) than anything around today.

Good music in general. I listen to anything.
Queens of the Stone Age. Them Crooked Vultures. Cage the Elephant. Muse. Radiohead. Jeff Buckley. Aerosmith. Bon Jovi. Wings. The Beatles. Stevie Ray Vaughan. Joe Satriani. Fats Waller. Fats Domino. Sonata Artica. Amon Amarth. Yes. Chicago. Linkin Park. Never a Hero. Rise Against. Rodrigo Y Gabriela. The Rolling Stones. The Who. Wolfmother. We Are the Ocean. The Vines. System of a Down. The Subways. Shinedown. Bunch of stuff from the early 1900's. Quite a lot of this new pop I'm hearing lately is good, to me. Then all the stuff from India, Africa, etc. The list goes on.
It's all really in the eye of the beholder, or in this case, ear.

I like anything that sounds good. I've got everything from Ozzy Osbourne to music from Rent on my iPod, lol. I listen to Santana, Boston, The Who, Pat Benatar, Fastball, Joe Satriani, Bon Jovi, P!nk, and more. I enjoy the CDs Paul Anka made where he turned a lot of famous songs into Jazz. Speaking of Jazz, one artist I'd recommend looking up is Jamie Cullum. He seems to mix a few different ideas into his music and I think it turns out really good.

Sooo, rock, chiptunes, dancey stuff occasionally, indie. My favourite band is the Gorillaz, by a long way and my favourite songs change all the time. I tend to listen to rock/heavy music. Favourite bands include Deftones, 30 Seconds To Mars, Tool, and Kings Of Leon. Not a fan of opera, classical, jazz, pop, etc.

I was just listening to slipknot and now to the andrew sisters/rum & coca cola, my style is pretty eclectic
Electronic music and jazz is were my heart is though (autechre, aphex twin, gonjasufi, LFO, amon tobin, pole, stan getz, miles davis...).
Happy to see that some of my favourite artists (krush, lorn, squarepusher, ruby trio...) music is used in LBP, they do have good taste at the mm office

I Liked Dubstep, also Drum and Bass. Tend to listen to dubstep more, because if someone come across saying "pick only one genre you liked" i just say dubstep, but i like DnB as well.
