A quick question about beta stuff transfering to LBP2

Archive: 14 posts

Hello, I was wondering if we get to keep the beta levels on our moons(I know that the beta levels online will be wiped though)?

I mean I can redo stuff and whatever, but it'd be useful to know as I have quite a sizeable chunk of level on my moon.

If this is in the wrong section please move it, thanks

From what I know, when the full game comes out it will be like the beta never existed at all.2011-01-09 21:35:00

There small hope level backups from beta may work on full game, but thats only hope. Other then that, nothing will transfer from beta, just by standing2011-01-09 21:38:00

Paddy, the BETA client will still be there for you to access offline, so yes, your levels will still be on your moon, and you will be able to work in Create Mode.2011-01-09 21:41:00

Otherwise assume that you will never be able to transfer stuff, as if it were two different games.2011-01-09 21:50:00

Unfortunately there isn't. Absolutely nothing from the beta carries over to the full game in any way.

People will be looking for a backdoor method of importing levels from the beta, like the method in the OC beta, but really it's a bit irresponsible to do so. Take this post for example, from Tom at Mm:

We have always said, right from the very start of the LBP2 beta trial, that levels made in the beta trial will not be transferred to the live servers when LBP2 launches. This still applies!
As the closed beta has been running for so long, there are simply too many bugs which could wriggle their way on to the live servers and potentially cause huge problems for the game and the community.

It's clear from this that they don't want to have beta levels in the retail version. Surely after giving people access to much of the game months in advance this isn't too much to ask? By importing these levels you could unwittingly end up creating a huge pain in the bum for Mm, and remember time they spend fixing glitches is time lost from developing wonderful games!

Now obviously the large majority of the testers only want to showcase their painstakingly built levels to the larger community but there will always be a few wishing to drag bugs and exploits into the game to seem special for a while. I just think it would be better to leave it alone, even if it is possible somehow, as an act of appreciation.

My Pipe Spoof-O-Doof Dreamz level is gone And so has all the LBP2 tutorial levels i glitched and saved onto My Moon as my own levels, My Advice 1, 2,3 v1, and 3 v2 That's all I wanted to carry over lol. By the way My Advice 3 v1 was the only working LBP1 track on the BETA. Used for Debugging LBP1 music on LBP2 I presume2011-01-11 19:34:00

How could they be gone from your moon if you didn't delete them? Surely all the stuff on there will stay, even if you can't import into the retail version.

Yeah I didn't create any new levels during beta, I just used my existing levels as guinea pigs to test everything out on, encase stuff didn't transfer to the full game.2011-01-12 15:50:00

Craaaaaaap... Guess I better get out some paper and pens and transfer my logic to hardcopy before the Beta Offline part stops working then...

I just figured they would do like LBP1 Beta and leave stuff out there. Crap. Crap. Crap.
