Project: Hedgehog

Well, I think I should create a new thread for this because the old one's kinda dead. ANYWAY, Project: Hedgehog is a project aiming to create a full-fledged Sonic the hedgehog game in LBP2. All submissions will be accepted and looked at by a panel of judges that are yet to be decided. EVERYTHING will be looked at. Zone concepts, Badniks, Bosses, Music, etc. (Costumes will be exclusively made by fumetsusozo. Unless you can do better, which I highly doubt)

Post in this thread or PM me to post some submissions. VAs will be decided at a later date, when the project is further along. Do not feel bad if your work was not chosen.

Main Characters should be: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Metal and Eggman. Possibly Mighty.

My plan for this ambitious project is to create the perfect blend of old and new Sonic the Hedgehog.

1. Autumn Grassland Zone

Aerial Assault Zone

Try to come up with a 4th zone! Try something original, similar to every zone in Sonic Colors or Sonic Advance 2's Music Plant.

ok i just wanted to add that its VERY difficult to make the sackbot the same speed as sonic (i am going to attempt making a sackbot fast like sonic for my dc universe level (pray it works) if i figure out how (if you dont already know* ill give you the sackbot to make into sonic or teach you how2011-01-10 00:50:00

I'd say that if you wish to do Sonic's speed right without going too slow, go for Sonic 1 speed. That should be easy enough to do.

Anyways, good luck with this, and I hope you can manage to do this completely. I'd love to play this when you guys finish. :3

Uhm,
no, best way to make a sonic char is to not use a sackbot,
the only good working one move-wise I have seen so far was basically an object with good created mover logic to make it move and jump like sonic did in sonic and knuckles/sonic 3.

If you do use a sackbot, Id almost suggest to bolt it on an object and make the object move, and not the bot.

Luos, you can easily override Sackbot movements and make it behave like any other objects. No need to bolt anything.

Also, it's very easy to make Sackbots move at great speeds. Making the feel right is another story, though.

I'm not actually worrying about Sackbot logic now. It's the fact that we have absolutely NO concept art. We can't really continue until we have concepts or music. ANYTHING. No bosses, badniks, we need more powerups. I want others to put their input in... because I think it'd come out better.2011-01-12 15:50:00

I know, but moving it like sonic.. even with moves on the bot.. it would look wrong.


Making the feel right is another story, though.

Well its not so much needing to make him move just like the odd games,
so much as it is only making it some what like the old games,
plus, when it comes to speed, so far i like my speed logic best as it feels nice, with little edits, it be just right,
anyways even i could make good enough logic to do this stuff, best just to make a artistic
version of sonic gameplay then it would to be trying to copy it from the old stuff down to the dot,
tho i'm just the costume artist here, hopefully Cola can get a good gameplay planer and logic maker.

No, if you are making a sonic game,
sonic should move exactly like sonic allways moved, and nothing else.
else imho its a fail to start with.

Sorry to put a damper on this conversation, but in EVERY game, Sonic moves differently. All the official ones. Sonic 1, 2, and 3 were very similar, but there were probably a few tweaks between them. Sonic Unleashed (daytime and Sonic Colors do mot play the same, but very similarly. Same goes for most videogame characters out there. Just saying.2011-01-13 19:49:00

I have a idea for the Autumn Grassland Zone boss. Here is the idea: Dr. Robotnik is in his typical small ship he hovers in but this time he has a fan built in the ship designed to suck up the leaves and turn them into toxic ash, which he gets rid of by pouring it all on Sonic. Robotnik can also get out of his ship a razer sharp disk to try to kill Sonic with. To hurt Dr. Robotnik you just simply jump on his head a couple of times to destroy the machine and cause Robotnik to fly away with the ship heavily damaged.What do you think? 2011-01-13 21:41:00

Yoho~ Ahh i see whats your thinking now Luos, your thinking the first 5 or so games far as movement,
but that's not needed, if we were trying to make a copy of the old games maybe,
but we are not, we are just making a Sonic game we hope to be enjoyable, and Cola is right,
almost everygame Sonic moves for good or bad... Different ~ besides you are right when saying this is LBP,
so trying to make the gameplay the 100% same as any sonicgame would be imposable, like i said Best
just to make a Sonicgame with a Artistic view on everything, as we are using ideas from the whole timeline of Sonic-gameplay.

There's no reason to be picky to that level when making something on LBP, meaning we are working with in limits,
besides just feeling like the old games should be good enough, long as its more enjoyable then what Sonic team been doing overall the past years,
that should be fine.

Now don't get me wrong, Sonic 4 and Sonic Rush are very good games. Just don't ever let DIMPS near your 2D physics, SEGA.

It's definitely a challenge, but not impossible. Just requires a whole lot of logic and tweaking. And countless hours trying to perfect it.

Well we all know i'm a big Chao fan as seen in my RPG in my Sig~
But a Chao garden be crazy hard to make in LBP, i'd love to see that, but unless Cola gets a Logic maker to join.
it be little impossible, Unless your just talking about player plays as a Chao in the normal levels,

Uh... NO.

Sorry if that came off rude, but the next zones should be fantastical and stuff. I mean, remember, this is a game about an anthropomorphic blue talking hedgehog that can run faster than the speed of sound and fights an obese, egg-shaped evil genius that is trying to use robots powered by animals to enslave the entire world to build a theme park called Robotnikland/Eggmanland.

On a side note, seeing as you seem to be from the Bronx, please use proper grammar and spelling. It'll make it easier for us to read your posts.

On another note, I'm talking about complete concepts. I want complete concepts. Zone names do nothing if you don't have concepts. Add some visuals to your concepts, too. Sprites, drawings, anything visual.

Nope. Not only is that not a visual concept, but you are asking us to create an entire artificial intelligence system with at least 50 or so Chao, with alternate costumes (animal parts) for most of them inside a game? Not likely. Maybe eventually, but as of now, no. Besides, how about save data? Not stickers, too hard.
