Weekly Level Roundup Episode 2
Archive: 10 posts
Hello everyone, sorry for being late on this but here's the second level roundup, featuring 10 new levels. 1. "The Machines that Feed on Our Dreams" by skumchunk lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/v3xyzx In a dark world full of machines and robots, you'll soon find out who's in charge. Save some robots that are trapped in this dark factory. This level doesn't jus have some great gameplay like almost any other level, but it also has some funny dialogue as you talk with two men who are in charge, always rhyming while talking to you. Plus all the bland-ish colors make a beautiful level and the robots are designed to really feel like LBP, infact, I could totally imagine the first good robot you meet being a creator curator! Also, I thought the part where you had toh elp the third robot in the emotion-like machine was awesome and the boss was great, I liked how it had a shield to sides so ou had to get under it to shoot and kill it. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29001 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29000 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29002 2. "The way of the Ninja" by ALS_TheGamer lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/tq2g8g To see if you're a true ninja, you must face one las test to find out in another level by ALS_TheGamer. There are some beautiful designs and use of corner editing but while you're passing by te colorful pieces, try not to get scorched, impaled, etc. Plus the character design for the ninjas you'll encounter is awesome and so are the knives and all these items. Plus there are some fun challenges including the part emitting the ball you gotta put in the places. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29005 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29004 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29003 3. "Land of the Forgotten" by mdaj lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/vp4z70 Journey through a land where gigantic and gruesome monsters still live, their skin no longer remaining. Get help from these monsters throughout the level plus some of the technology that exists and there are some great explosions of lightign adn some sick scenes, with one creature banging it's fist down and part of the ground flings up, get an energy core to jumpstart one creature's heart and flee from a creature that's in a giant, flaming ball and while in an elevator, watch some flying creatures pass by. Although the level isn't as "clean" as a lot of levels, the design for these creaures rock, the scenes are top notch and it has some ncie challenges with beautiful lighting. Here are pcitures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29008 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29006 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29007 4. "Somewhere in andromeda" by dohdohbird lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/stdm1v Well, here's another level that would definitely make my list of favorite levels, in this beautiful dark blue level, set in the sky with you piloting your ship in the beginning, going in a giganti room, after opening mostrous doors with light cracking through. I will warn you, once getting off that ship, there's no turning back. You have to be ready to avoid the many dangers you'll find yourself in in andromeda, not get too distracted from the absolutely beautiful lighting that surrounds you and above all, ride some minecarts. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29009 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29011 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29010 5. "Tree of Life - Preview" by anpostteller lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/w8mhcv Besides "Swinging Silhouette", after playing anposteller's levels so far, you can know he has acheived some outstanding details but that doesn't give a ton of room for gameplay of course. In his latest level, just like his post-apocalyptic levels, it's real short. But there's another thing it has in common with his post-apocalyptic levels and that is although the level is very short, it has some fantastic detail, but this time it isn't all machines and explosions, no, this time anposteller takes a much calmer approach in his latest level titled "The Tree of Life = Preview". It isn't the stickers/decorations that really impresses me, (although don't get me wrong, using that sun piece as grass is a great idea) it's mroe about the lighting. The white fog below is great, the little spores floating down from the sky and the peaceful blue lighting tied in with some great, wooden, chipped away pieces makes this one amazing expirience, I would love to see this become a whole game in LBP2 and for those who also might be thinking that, then I guess we're in luck as it is a "preview". It doesn't have you walking all around, it does have some gameplay like his other level, "Swinging Sillhouette". Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29014 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29012 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29013 6. "Chihiro's Garden" by ladylyn1 lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/w9njev With darkness approaching in an Islands themed area full of some cool challenges, ladylyn1 brings us his newest level. The glowing red lighting all around with a nice darkish blue nightlit lighting and "Wise Owl" playing makes it another calming level to play. As for other things, when you're at the part where you have to swtch layers and go up, avoiding the flaming balls rolling down, the little doors that pop up with the ball going inside is pretty cool and every once in a while, it might help you by flinging you upwards. Ladylyn does a great job adding a bit of VR without making it even a bit techno feeling. Oh and when you gab onto a floating platform going right, it just seems sorta like....the area with the flaming pieces you have to go under and the glass could be more...fit into the level. It just looks a bit out of place but maybe that's just me. But other than that, it turned out to be a great level. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29017 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29015 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29016 7. "PIANO PLANET" by noni100percent lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/t28sdg A beautiful, musical masterpiece is what you could call this level. I really do ened to try playing muuch more music levels as you don't see much anyone mentioning those but not only does it do a fantastic job at making one of the music pieces all completely out of sounds, the one in the itnroduction, what's that song called......anyway, while it's doing it, every note is showing a key being pushed down on the gigantic circular piano you're on and a light shining down on that key being pressed down. Then it starts moving and music keeps palying, makign a fun, little challenge. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29111 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29110 8. "Cause and Effect 5" by TripleTremelo lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/wesdyg The fifth and final installment to TripleTremelo's wonderful level series that uses dominoes and other pieces to create Rube Goldberg-like machines in Little Big Planet but this time, to make use of gravity more, there are no switches or emtiters used this time besides in the beginning with the switches that emit the logo and at te very end with the game references.(portal cube must've been emitted from second portal) The level's mostly full of falling dominoes and whatnot but nonetheless, there's still some good ideas to knock things down, make things open up more for something to pass through, etc.. All the game references at the end was kinda cool but I did think it was a bit...different, especially after it's been just silhouette-like throughout the entire series, the game references part seemed just a bit out of place. I think it could make a cool part, but it might be better as it's own level like... "Cause and Effect: Game Edition" or something like that and now that I think of it, if it was a game edition it might look better with a colorful background and lighting and whatnot, but maybe that's just me. Everything else that didn't add color to it fit in for me though. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29107 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29108 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29109 9. "Frigid Facade" by L1GhTmArE lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/w-k6-g L1GhT's newest level has you sliding down the ice, looking at the mountains and rocks around you plus the beautiful yet frozen logo and once you're done with that, you take on a new quest: Get into the King and Queen's castle and defeat all the snowmen that are taking over it, along with their boss. But traveling through this torchlit castle filled with the dangers it holds will be no easy challenge but that probably isn't very surpising if you've played L1GhT's other levels. With the gigantic and wonderful castle being filled to the brim with white, redish-orange, yellow and blue lighting, this level turns out to be a beautiful level just like L1GhT's others and it;s filled with great contraptions and enar the end, some angry snowmen plus try and see if you can find all the white hexagon shaped pieces secretly hdiden which you should grab if you find any. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29137 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29136 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29138 10. "Frigid Facade II" by Sabre_ lbp.me link: http://lbp.me/v/w-rxbc Just after L1GhTmArE publishes part 1 of Frigid Facade, Sabre_ publishes the second part, having them both make a aprt each, jsut like their amazing "Umbra Valley" series. This level begins jsut where you left off at the end of part 2, and you'll be fighting more snowmen than before plus more challenges await of course with a enw attack by the snow guards, some dangerous ice cubes plus and ends with a brilliant snowman boss with his little snowman guards and his own, well designed health meter. Here are pictures of the level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29141 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29142 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29140 | 2011-01-08 14:57:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
