Checking out the trailer right now.. will edit later for thoughts.

Looks like a game with lots of customization, big maps, leveling up, and some parkour too along with what you already said above.. looks good. If you ever get any gameplay video would you post it on this thread? Thanks.

The OP sequence looks cool and all...but once you see the gameplay video its just another regular 'ol FPS, tbh I actually spaced out of boredom when watching the gameplay, and I'm not joking, I seriously did.

Ps: Did anyone find the guy's voice (from the 2nd video) EXTREMELY annoying as well?
Seriously I had to lower to volume, it just annoyed e so fast. >_<

Really liked Wolfenstein ET and this seems to have the same sort of gameplay so I'll probably be buying it.
It's really not just another shooter, games like cod or battlefield or killzone have your arcadey objectives like place a bomb, defuse a bomb, kill some people etc.

Wolfenstein ET and, by the looks of it, Brink have 'scenario objectives' so for instance in Wolf ET you had an objective to blow up a fuel depo, but you had to get a tank to the gates to get into the depo to then place a charge. You had to build bridges to get the tank over a river and everytime the enemy team destoryed the tank an engineer would have to repair it.

So yeah, hopefully Brink will be everything like Wolfenstein ET but with updated graphics and more customization.

I usually hate FPSes. (BioShock being the only exeption).
But this actually looks great! The story already has me interested, and that's one of the main things I look for in games, a great story!

Honestly depends if it has splitscreen co-op. I would like to play the campaign with my sister, and fight her in whatever the Fight Against Each Other option is called.

That's the thing with these kinds of games, you don 't really know how good it is till you are actually playing it... in an FPS it's the little things that make the difference - like how the guns feel/sound etc; or how the bullet impact 'feels';

The S.M.A.R.T. (smooth movement across random terrain) system sounds good, but how it feels/plays will make all the difference

Hahaaaa!
I played it at the GamesCom in Cologne on August 19th.

I'm waiting for it since i've seen the first Pictures in 2009.

The Game is just AWESOME!
Easy Controls, the S.M.A.R.T. System works by just holding down a Button and move towards Obstacles.
It looks cool to slide behind a cover while shooting Enemies.

Lots of Weapons and Upgrades. And you can use every Type of Weapon with every Class.

The best thing is, that Campaign and Multiplayer are merged together.
Play the Campaign in coop with Friends.
Your Objective can be blowing up some Machine.
Other Players playing the Campaign might protect that Machine.

Whoop...there you go in a Multiplayer Match.
Join or leave it whenever ya want.

I preoredered it.

See you Guys online!

I figure Operatives are better for no-respawn type matches, as running around the map with the same outfit the guy you killed has isn't a good idea. So I guess im sticking with Engineer.
And pay no attention to Clay, he's copying all of my character choices.

When this was first announced I had zero interest but with the release approaching I have been watching vids and I am a lot more intrigued. The variety of weapons/attachments almost gives me a Borderlands kind of vibe which is a very good thing. I love class based shooters and the ability to switch classes on the fly is something new that should make for more dynamic gameplay. These stats Bethesda released are kind of crazy lol:

Number of ways to die ? 45

Lines of dialogue ? 26,000

Individual weapon sounds ? 4,500

Voice Packs ? 8

Minutes of Music ? 60

Weapon/attachment combinations (not counting Resistance variations or pre-order content) ? 4963

Unique Security Characters (not counting minor tint variations or body types) ? 4,530,240

Unique Security Characters (not counting minor tint variations but including body types) ? 13,590,720

Unique Security Characters (including minor tint variations, but not body types) ? 15,775,119,360,000,000

Unique Security Characters (including minor tint variations and body types)- 47,325,358,080,000,000

Unique Resistance Characters (not counting minor tint variations or body types) ? 4,530,240

Unique Resistance Characters (not counting minor tint variations but including body types) ? 13,590,720

Unique Resistance Characters (including minor tint variations, but not body types) ? 18,307,441,152,000,000

Unique Resistance Characters (including minor tint variations and body types) ? 54,922,323,456,000,000

Total Unique Characters (including minor tint variations and body types ? 102,247,681,536,000,000

I loved Crysis 2 and the SMART system appears to have that same sort of physicality with vaulting over obstacles, sliding etc. I need to see some reviews first though, not so much about the scores, I just want a summary of everything.

the SMART movement sounds great, although the automation of it does worry me slightly. something with more control over your parkour (like mirrors edge) would satisfy me more, but im still very excited for it.

Light Operatives FTW!!

You're in full control at all time. You can do all the parkour moves manually, and as a reward you get a speed boost.

For coop only - yeah it would be cool! However, if they put PC and PS3 players up against eachother it would go very bad D: The average PC player could own a console pro player. Infact thats exactly what happened when Microsoft tested out such a system. Keyboard and mouse is a faster and more accurate input. Not saying it's better though, that's all opinion.

IGN shows us another GREAT review, talking all about how much FUN you will have in the game, and nothing stupid like bashing the game for its murky colours or mild pixelation and very small intervals.

http://www.destructoid.com/review-brink-200746.phtml 7.5/10

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-brink/713694?type=flv 7.9/10

It seems Brink has a lot of great ideas but the execution could be a lot better. I will probably get it, have some things to trade in and I want an FPS that offers something different. If it sucks then I will go back to playing Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider Trilogy and Portal 2 until L.A. Noire drops on the 20th

After playing for the past 3+ hours my overall verdict is a like it. This is one of those games that has peaks in valleys in regards to your enjoyment (at least for me). I was immediately impressed with the character customization (this was a peak). Then I started the challenge mode and on tier 2 of the first challenge I was stuck for over 30 minutes at the same spot where I had to hack a console pretty much in the open and the entire enemy team was ALWAYS there (this was a valley). I then began to notice how great the sound design was. The guns sound great and really have that sense of impact (this was a peak). I then became extremely annoyed at the frequent texture pop-in which, quite frankly, is inexcusable in this day and age (this was a valley). I then started the campaign and finished the first 3 chapters on the Resistance side. The action is intense and I can already imagine how much more enjoyable it will be when playing with actual people (this was a peak). I then concluded that although it's nice to have all these different looking characters the action will prevent you from really admiring them and the visuals for the environments are drab and uninspired which is a shame because that's what you constantly see (this was a valley)

I think the game has a lot of great ideas but it is not without glaring flaws. The Destructoid review nailed it imo, pretty much how I feel thus far. Hopefully PSN will be back up on the weekend and we can see how well multiplayer works.

I'm on Day 3 in Campaign with the difficulty on easy (normal is rough)
and it's still extremely difficult to get passed the "COD Bots ."

I dunno, I probably won't play it again 'til PSN comes back up.

Have you ever watched the BO bots? They literally lock onto you, and then (depending on the difficulty) wait several seconds, then shoot. The Brink bots at least don't have THAT much of a lock on.

So far, I'm liking it. But what I'm disappointed in was the way they handled unlocks. It doesn't take long to level up, and you could probably get to max level in 1-3 days. Then there are the attachments, which, unlike COD, when you unlock, say, a Silencer, it unlocks for EVERY GUN. Now, if they made it so you had to get X amount of kills with a gun to unlock a silencer for IT and only IT, then that would make the game last sooo much longer. It really seems like they made everything happen so quickly, which is why I'm worried about how long it will last :c

No don't get it! Gunplay is awful, its laggy, guns too inaccurate, buggy, and when you play online you just play with a bunch of artificial intelligiance bots! I bought the game for 40$ next day i return it and get 11$!

Did you "Return" it or "traded it" back in?
If you traded it it rather than return it you got scammed dude. xD
(Also where did you get it from?)

It's not *that* bad.
You've just got to remember that it's not CoD; it's more like team fortress.

My first impressions were that it was a pretty poor game, but then I stuck with it, and actually it's "not bad" ;
Not great - but "not bad".

I know this is an old topic, but... Why start a new one? Anyway I just got this game, and I have to say its pretty fun, but not by myself. So anyone with a mic want to hop on and play? I know for a lot of people itll be the first time in a while, could be fun for a bit.2012-12-26 01:44:00
