The LBP2 Beta Trial ends on.... MONDAY

Archive: 53 posts

Hello everyone let me just say that this has been posted by tom himself in the main forum.

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year and all that! Hope you all had a good one!

As promised previously (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=42069-LBP2-Beta-The-end-is-nigh!), we told you once we had a date, we'd let you know.

Well - confirmed this morning - The LBP2 Beta Trial will end on MONDAY MORNING (GMT)

So, grab your hankies and get ready because there are just 4 days left!

It's been a blast. You've no doubt been seeing some of the LBP2 Reviews coming in this week - it's a very exciting time!

And once again - THANK YOU ALL for your hard work!

SEE YOU ON LAUNCH DAY!

So for the people that have the beta enjoy your last days with it!
Edit: I just found this in the main forum that sound interesting so I will put it here.

lease remember that by Monday Morning we mean before 12pm GMT

So what does this mean? To clarify... the servers will be Offline, however you will still be able to access the Beta Story Mode and your Create levels, remember though that saved data from the Beta can not be carried over to the full game.

These forums will be closing too on Monday and all of the posts and memories will be stored away nice and safe. Will these forums re-open? Well that will depend on any future Beta Trials for LBP2... we will let you know if this is the case and if you have been lucky to be invited in
If you do need to delete your LBP2 Beta Client *cry* then go for it, you will always be able to re download from your Download List.

Once again, a massive thank you to everyone for your hard work and contribution and we look forward to seeing you online!

I'm going to make my Star Wars minigames copyable for the weekend if anyone wants to download & see how they work.
Edit: Dlc may be required

Sad the beta's over soon. But it means the real deal is even closer!

By the time the BETA ends, it'd be a week and a day for LBP2 release...no biggie.

Oi arnald, what do you mean by "your Tom"?

I suggest to every tester to not delete the beta client even if the beta period is over. 2011-01-07 09:55:00

....why would they do that?
LBP.me is already imtegrated into the system and usable with LBP1...

No seriously, why?
I...I don't get it. O_o

And make sure you've got everything you made in your profile and back-ups of profiles and levels. It's probably all for nothing, but you will kick yourself if someone finds a workaround and you aren't prepared

Yeah, I backed up 2 levels, in case of.... We'll see

Anyway, I liked that first BETA experience, it was cool...
so it's kinda "sad" it ends, but that will be forgotten in 2 weeks

He was talking about the BETA.lbp.me Silverleon, not the regular lbp.me (though I don't know if you were ironic...)

So what does that mean? Will we still be able to create but not publish our levels or will we not be able to create at all?2011-01-07 15:43:00

As long as you keep the beta client you can still create on your moon. But you won't be able to show it to anyone, because you can't go online.2011-01-07 15:45:00

That is good to hear. It is still fun to be able to experiment in create mode.

Imigine how the non-betaees felt for 3 months. I sure one week will be nothing. Besides, you still get the LBP2 moon?? Sheesh, thats all what I would have needed for 3 months to keep me content.2011-01-07 16:23:00

I wasn't in the beta myself, but I feel great shame that these brilliant levels, few of which I've seen on YouTube, will disappear forever. But when they go on Monday, I'm sure they'll make great friends with the Unicorns within a few hours.2011-01-07 16:51:00

I felt content just having access to the create mode without uploading my creations. I thought that it made no sense to upload anyway considering that what you upload during the Beta will be deleted once Beta finishes. At least the Beta Create mode will allow you to experiment and play around until the final product shows up on the shelves.

That does not make any sense to me. You would think that if the game is made in the UK, they would get it first.

You can thank your dear friends at Sony for that.

Why universal release dates do not exist is pure stupidity.

It's a shame to see it end, but alas, c'est la vie. In its wake will come the most anticipated game of all time (at least in my opinion), so I think I can survive with offline create mode for a few days until its release.2011-01-08 18:59:00

I'd imagine that there wouldn't be many (if any) significant changes between the beta the the full release, less Story mode of course. The point of the beta was to test the game for bugs, and if there were any new game changing things released that weren't in the beta, they could possibly be riddled with bugs.2011-01-08 22:45:00

I know I'm in the minority here... but outside being granted access to the new tools... my favorite thing was watching the evolution of the 3 Story Mode Levels!!! Played them 5am this morning and they visually looked so vastly different. Even collected quite a few new stickers additional to my once 100% completed.2011-01-10 17:01:00

I had a blast blasting bugs, creating things I could only dream of in LBP, and learning the new tools (often with ill-logical frustration).

I know I've been hard on Mm for things like lighting engines gone wrong in updates and the new look of the hazards here and there, but overall.... my time in the beta has been full of wonderment, eye-popping community levels, and eye-opening possibilities for the future of this game. I only said what I said out of a deep passion for this game and all the possibilities it lends us.

As stated, this isn't the end.... it's just the beginning! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the community who weren't fortunate enough to get a beta key, online next week. Frankly, I'm a bit jealous of them. Our minds were blown away with the few levels we had at the beginning. The new folks are going to have their skulls peeled back by the whole game combined with not having experienced the visuals in person other than youtube videos. It's going to be double WOW for them.

I haven't been this excited in a long time.... I can't wait for next week!

It's been a fun ride, albeit a short one in my case. Having won my beta key via the Sony blog giveaway, I only had a few short weeks of beta-driven euphoria. In that short time what I saw blew my mind, dropped my jaw, and struck my awe (I bet you didn't know that your 'awe' could be stricken, did you, hm?).

All in all, I'm glad to have been privileged enough to have been a part of the beta, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the full release has in store for us.

So the one level I was working on in the beta for a long time, my Left 4 Dead 2 level, I stopped because I had trouble trying to get four players select between four sackbots work correctly with different cameras.

But now I just saw a youtube video on how you can use invisible holographic material to put controllinators directly on sackbots and....
Now I know what to do when the game comes out next week!

Wish I could log in to the beta to try it right now though but oh well. It was so fun while it lasted!

if you haven't deleted your beta from your machine (oh dear... I really hope you didn't), then yes, you can still play it and test this method. The only thing you can't test is the actual 4 player aspect.

Also, care to share a link to that video?!
