Deleting Game Data Profile

Archive: 5 posts

"Your profile has been copied from another user. You can proceed but will not be able to unlock any trophies. If you wish to unlock Trophies then please quit the game and delete the profile from the Game Data Utility before rebooting".

I've had this message come up on booting for the last two years or so, (ever since I joined up with that unofficial LBP facebook site that got scuppered way back when) and it also comes up in the new beta. It's hasn't caused any problems as I'm not a trophy addict, but I'd like to attempt to sort it in time for LBP2. So, does anyone know what exactly I'm letting myself in for if I delete my profile in the Game Data Utility section?? I'm assuming I'll have to play through the game again to get all the create stuff, but more importantly, how does it affect the levels on my moon and planet?? That's the biggie I'm worried about....

EDIT - I've just noticed I've got a profile in the Saved Data too, and it's much bigger in size. What's the difference between the profiles in Game Data Utility and Saved Data Utility?

Ummm I am half asleep, but I think you sorta start from scratch on your moon. Since it is the same login, you should keep your published levels though.

....it might just be a matter of doing level backups on everything on your moon to a usb stick and then once completed, start using that to import back to your moon once you are all fresh and squeaky.

It might be best to try that with an alt account first though.

Oh.. and Hi J!

If I remember right, the Update 1.21 Leerdammer changed the way the game saves so you'd have an older game save in the Save Data folder from before the update and your current profile in the Game Data folder.

Profiles have all the levels from your moon when you last did a profile backup, all your custom items and community items from your popit, all the materials and objects you got from story mode... it's basically your whole game minus the levels you've published or backed up but removed from your moon. I've moved mine from one account to another a few times and I everything I have is transferred with the profile backup.

OK, so if I have to delete my profile data in both Saved Game AND Game Data Utilitys, (essentially re-starting the game from scratch), my published levels will still be registered to and accessible from the new profile I've created? (I'll USB 'em anyway for safety)2011-01-04 19:53:00

Published levels are saved to the network, and your PSN account.

So, even if you were to just sign into a friend's PS3 with your own PSN, you could, say, copy the levels back onto THAT moon and create.

Assuming they had DLC, however.

Moon levels will be deleted unless backed up.
