Game Altitude sensor?
Archive: 8 posts
I'd like to use altitude as an area of effect. I'm having a hard time explaining what I need to, my level is called; Rocket to Space ((BLP2 level) this level is incomplete) . In the level, the gravity goes down when as you go up, but the area of effect doesn't work to keep it so the gravity is lower (30% gravity) when you are above, and above (100% gravity) on the ground. Please look at my level and give input, I really am having a hard time explaining this. A Game Camera would work best for my area of effect, rather then a the Player sensor alone. Seeing that LBP2 is advertised as you can do anything, this is a small glitch in a "little big" world. My LBP1 level this is based off of is called; Blast Off! (x2). In Rocket to Space you, for now, have to use Try Again to get off the Contorllinator. | 2011-01-02 22:00:00 Author: whitequill Posts: 8 |
So you want a global magnetic field? That would be pretty cool to be honest I assume that you want the gravity setting to stay the same in all the places at the same time. What you could do to make this effect is have a magnetic tag on the rocket and give everything a anti-gravity sensor and make them be activated when the tag is within range. Also if you made a scale on the side of the level you could have a key on the rocket activate different gravity settings as it goes up. This would keep the objects from falling when the full gravity is on but they will only activate when you are near enough to them in the rocket to be visually effective to the effect of a gravitational pull. Hope you consider this idea but I do like the idea of an easier way to do this | 2011-01-03 03:16:00 Author: AssassinatorRFC Posts: 715 |

I want something that is like a box. My idea was to rig the Player Camera (somehow) to be used to act as an area of effect, in my level. Using it to make everywhere at the top of my level be lower gravity (everywhere sackboy is tracked by the camera) if sackboy falls out of the camera, it returns to normal gravity. But an altitude meter would be better, as you tell the level to change gravity or anything for that matter once you have reached at specific height in the level. Another good thing to add (I was just thinking) would be a distance meter, so you could specify any location in the level with in a grid to change (for my case) the gravity of the level at a chosen height. Or, choose grid spaces, like say a box that is 50x30 units and say the gravity will change in this area only. This maybe done by a full level map that opens up and you choose on the full level what you want on the grid to select the area of effect, I say this because it would be a pain to fly around and select huge areas of effect with poppet. | 2011-01-03 18:52:00 Author: whitequill Posts: 8 |
Hologram box with impact sensor? | 2011-01-03 20:35:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
Hologram box with impact sensor? Try it, or I will, the LBP2 level is copy/mod. I can't remember if the LBP1 level is too, but if you wish it and it isn't I can make it so? Would that work? I don't think it would, because it needs to check how high you travel. and if you are above or below that point, and if you are above it, keep the global lighting and gravity settings the entire time you are at that, altitude and/or distance. So you have the effect of, when you go up, it both gets darker, and the gravity goes down for the entire time you are at the altitude, and if you fall (for what ever reason) it changes to the settings for the ground. So and area of effect doesn't work, I need everything above/below a certain altitude to keep the settings regardless distance from any radial switch areas. | 2011-01-05 04:15:00 Author: whitequill Posts: 8 |
So you want a global magnetic field? That would be pretty cool to be honest Yes, a magnetic field in LBP would be very cool, though it wasn't quite what I had in mind. ;P | 2011-01-05 04:41:00 Author: whitequill Posts: 8 |

Hologram box with impact sensor? .......... I don't get it myself. I'd prefer we not dwell on this... | 2011-01-05 23:51:00 Author: whitequill Posts: 8 |
