Automatic level crediting

The title sounds confusing but what I mean is that every collected object is credited to the original creator, all objects could be listed in some kind of list in the levels description, if these names are listed, it removes the issue of copyright to the original owners. Because there are so many objects that are used are originally created by someone else it will automatically credit the creators, or can be used as some kind copyright protection.2011-01-01 18:00:00

Actually it's already implemented in object shearing some of my community objects in my bag few creators names. Ofcorse it's not perfect system and sometimes it failing2011-01-01 18:27:00

Lol, copyright.

If you are worried about your objects getting used without credit, then don't share them. Be the sole owner and reap the credits for yourself

When LBP2 comes out i'm going to create a music distribution level to dump all of my little side musical projects in (ones that aren't going for peoples levels). I wouldn't mind if people didn't credit and used it shamelessly because I know it'd be me really.

That would be interesting, but it also won't be clear who made what with just a "list" of names.

I think MM should allow you to lock the object so people can't save the object in their levels. Like they can place the object in create mode and play around with it, but they can't save or publish the level with that object. It may over complicate things...but it may be useful especially for someone like me who likes to make little contraptions and give to everyone to play with.

I agree with comishguy, I also think there should a lock option on stuff especially on the music sequencer
so we music makers can share our work without worrying about taking our songs remixing it so they can get easy hearts and yays
and it'll maybe help with the overflood of copied work on the cool level page since it'll bring shame to someone the people who do these kinds of things i think at least
so i say yes to a lock opition on objects

And yes, Asbestos has got it right.

They can capture it sure but they can't save or publish it in there levels if it's locked by the original creator. When you re-capture an object it still shows who originally made the object in the description.

@Asbestos: I don't give away things I make so someone can get plays and hearts from it. I give it for them to enjoy it. I don't really care if people give me credit, but I don't like it when someone lies about making something they didn't make. If they want to get plays they should make their own creations. Not shamelessly steal someone's work and proclaim it's theirs. There's no need to give people the opportunity to spam the cool pages with things they didn't make. I think the ultimate solution to this problem would be for MM to give creators the option of locking the objects they give away, rendering them unsaveable and unpublishable. Having options is better imo.

There's a popular mod on Modnation Racers.
It was created and shared.
The original got 2,834 downloads compared to remixed version @ 122,639.
I would be annoyed.

Mad props to anyone who shares their hard work with the community.
I am definitely for some kind of name attached to said object. However it's a hard problem to solve.

Or an alternative, every object you use that is not yours during creating, check the original creator of the object and right it down on paper as well as the objects name. It could look something like this

1. Racing Car by PDTails22
2. An Object by FF1234

And so on , could also include MM's creations. Once done add them to the description, or within the level if you want. The same method can be used for photos.
