Recommended drawing programs for mac?

Archive: 6 posts

Alright, I have a new pc. but that means also I do not have my beloved photoshop to resize my images. And since it is a mac, I doubt I can use the same old disc to install it again, as it is for normal PCs only. So are there any new programs I should take my liking towards? Please recommend what you find useful and such.
This is also why I am unable to post most new drawings I have made, because my printer's scanning is too awesome for this site to handle (too many pixels -.-) and I have nothing to resize them. Therefore I would kindly ask you out there to recommend any kind of drawing media or such which I can resize images without problem, as well as draw freely and optionally edit pictures to an extent.

So, photoshop is always a much beloved program which is usable, but it is not exactly cheap either.

Then I have crossed paths with Manga Studio 4 (Ex) which is cheaper than photoshop, but is more for making your own manga and all that. Though, that is my beloved drawing style, so at the moment that is my first choice. Though should it be?

Are there any other programs out there for Mac, which has useful functions, such as resizing, importing, ability to draw and all such? It could be free or it could cost some money, though not too much of course! My wallet is not infinite (though I wish it was)...

EDIT: And I have not bought any new product (yet)

GIMP? It can also open PSD files too. (Most of them I think.)

And it's free too.

Oh, it's not free. But you could download the trial and just copy a serial key from this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIrwlbVas8w) video.

The mac trial doesn't exist anymore for Flash8.

I use flash and GIMP for drawing, The best for drawing is flash, but it's not good for editing/resizing etc. GIMP is.

I use photoshop myself, but for your sake I shall repeat a method that I used to use.

Go into your paint program, I think every computer starts off with a basic one and I know that basic resizing damages the image quality, so paste your image into paint and zoom out too say 300% zoom and take a screenshot than paste and crop around the now smaller image with no quality lost.

(A temporary method) That rocket to the left wasn't always that small you know

You can resize things in Photobucket (along with a load of other simple editing tools) which is quite useful, especially if you use it to upload images. But GIMP is really good for free software.2010-12-31 18:45:00
