Hehe, so one person says the drawing of my monkey sackperson is cool and they like it while another says its the creepiest thing they've ever seen xD Anyway, I don't actually think the robots poses are very akward, they seem fine plus a nice job on them, oh and great job with thecomputer coloring and shading for Mercury's sackperson

Added yet another robot to post #4, put up both a jpg and png version of it. Would appreciate feedback on what one looks better and how the highlights look, went a bit more hardout with highlights then normal this time.2011-01-04 09:10:00

I don't have the magic gift of telling what's lower quality like some, imo they look the exact same quality so I guess I'd go with the JPEG one since the little red thing on the top of it's head glows for it and png doesn't 2011-01-04 11:03:00

the jpg one look lower quality to me, its more blurry and the highlights are more dimmed down. The png still has the red glow, but is only on the top of the head which is hard to see. I guess it is more realistic but i dont go for realism, and i like the jpg's glow better2011-01-04 18:46:00

I know you weren't asking me, but I figured I would try answering any questions you had with the wacom tablets. I use photoshop instead of SAI, so you'd best ask Zim about its compatibility. I use the smaller version, and it works fine for me. Using a tablet can be awkward at first, and there is a plateau or two you have to climb over before it feels natural. That said, it really pays off in the long run. It's so much easier then sketching something and scanning it onto the computer.

I can't remember exactly all you asked, so if you have any questions, please do ask.

quick concept sketch of an entry im currently working on for the Deviantart contest. The level is based on climbing up the tower and rescuing repunzel, except with a twist. Being stuck in a tall tower for most of her life she hasn't exactly been able to wash her hair, which is now VERY dirty and contaminated and will kill you if you touch it, so you have to avoid the hair while climbing up vines, jumping between outcrops and jumping upon a passing by bird. Im gonna call it 'Repunzel, Repunzel. Let down your putrid hair!'
btw i forgot to add sackboy to the sketch...oops
now i have too make it look awesome as, *sigh*, it's gonna take a while.

Oh yeah, and it's conveniently enough a very windy day and repunzel's hair is kinda swaying.

Here is the result of my previous sketch, it turned out looking too realistic to be a LBP 2 level, so i changed it a bit, might add a window later.

This is what i did in art, used pencil and watercolour. It's a drawing of a Asterix soft toy thingy I got from my grandma ages ago when she came back from a holiday in France, yes she is French.
http://i53.tinypic.com/2c12dv.jpg

Haha, for some reason the right side turned out darker the the left when i took the photo
Oh yeah, and thats one of the first time I have used watercolour, so it's not that good. Looks like colour pencils, lol

Nice job! I've recently started using watercolors myself. At first I hated them, but they've grown on me some. I like how they give the color pencil look, but more refined and less sketchy looking. For me anyway, I'm horrible with coloring pencils 2011-02-17 00:03:00

K, i really want some advice and feedback for this work in progress, this is my first time doing scenery and am currrently experimenting with stuff. I added the grey background to bring out the work i have done so far to get advice. The tree looks to smooth so i'll need to add texture and the leaves are a lil blurry, and i've yet to actually add leaf outlines. TYhis was done on SAI btw. So please give me advice, feedback, comments, tips....and maybe a doughnut.
http://i51.tinypic.com/33kw0b4.png

BTW i'll prob end up redoing the whole thing and make it look a heck of a lot more realistic

the big green blob/grass/leaf/moss thing in the middle... is that a part of the tree or in the background?

eitherway, my advice is to remove it and let the the veiwer see the road go faaaar far into the background. if ya get tierd of drawing every bloody tree then you could add some mighty fogg in the way, and blurr it a little.

any else? add a moon! and some clouds around it. maybe some rocks at the side of the road, a small messed up sign?

(oh oh, and try to keep the shadow of the objects on one side, like if it actually came from the moon or the sun or any other lightsource. )

Thanks for the advice, im going to totally rework it, spend a few hours on each tree and all. Gonna make them look more twisted and all, might add that sign and maybe some rocks and all2011-02-18 03:19:00
