Nervousness

Archive: 18 posts

So, How do you guys define nervousness? How do you get over it? Basically, all I'm asking for is nervousness in a nutshell. I, for one, have one thing I currently really nervous over, and another two, not so much, because they both are inevitable. For one, I kinda have someone I like a lot, but I'm not sure how to tell them, seeing as it's not normal, according to the so-called correct society. Now, the other two I can go into details about, because everyone has had or will have this feeling. Numero Uno. School! Yay! I have all A's and B's in all may classes except for Band. Let's get to the point. I hate band. I have been in it for the past two year, my 6th Grade year and my 7th grade year. I didn't really want to be in it again, but of course fate had to 'accidentally' trip me into it again... Numero Dos. Death! Blah! This is more of a fear, seeing as my dad just has to watch Ghost Whisperer, and I have no where else to go without feeling lonely. Anyway, back on-topic (In the Off-Topic forum?!?) No one in my family has died that I ever remember or have met, but the prospect creeps me out, my parents dying, my sisters dying, me dying. Blah! No one can help me there! Dang it Ghost Whisperer creeps me out! Rant over! Any suggestions and/or comments? Sorry about that, I just need someone to talk to, seeing as both parents are asleep, both sisters out with friends, and I can't sleep (Ghost Whisperer, again!) Help Me! Also, I will most likely not go into specifics about the err... Yea, you know what I mean, seeing as it's kinda awkward.2010-12-31 04:26:00

Well, nervousness hits me when I'm about to speak in front of people.

I'm told to repeatedly think 'I know what I'm doing.'

Nervousness also hit me because, while tramping, I had to cross an extremely long (like, 50m) and rickety swing-bridge. I repeatedly said to myself 'There is absolutely no way that I could fall.'

So, nervousness is what you make of it. You'll get through!

Yea, every time I try to bring up the subject of my nervousness to that certain someone, I chicken out and pretend to joke around. Once, it was on my birthday, and another time it was 2 days ago... At first I was like... Yea! I can do this, then I was like, Yea, JK! I'm only kidding! Then, when I'm alone after they left, I'm just like, Gosh, I'm such a chicken. And it just gets worse and worse.... Chicken! Haha Inan, that sounds familiar except that you were joking.. I think... I'm such a freakin' chicken! Nervous Breakdown anyone? Funny thing is, the specific person is my best friend. I'm gonna shuddup now... I've said to much!2010-12-31 04:53:00

It's ok to be nervous!

Wouldn't you rather be nervous about things than be a cocky idiot who thinks they can do no wrong and leaps into doing things without thinking about it first?
They are the people who get hurt.

About telling the person you like, do whatever you think is right. No one is forcing you into anything. If they reject you then they are not worth bothering about and you can get over them. Who knows? Maybe they feel the same way about you!

As Gok Wan once said, it's all about the confidence!

Nervousness... I never have it when writing, as I can sit back and rewrite whatever I say, but in real life it is worse I sometimes begin stuttering under presentations, because I am insecure about what I am to say next. I do manage to save myself though. But admitting such stuff is hard too, but nothing should ever be left unsaid!2010-12-31 15:50:00

OK, to target your pretty specific issue directly here, you've actually got 2 distinct barriers to cross, with regards to this special someone. There is the fact of your interest in them and the other issue. I don't know whether this person knows of the other issue yet, but if they don't, it's probably worth tackling them understanding and getting used to that first, because even with the best of intentions, both being revealed at the same time could throw someone off balance if it's unexpected.2010-12-31 16:08:00

nervousness is a point you get to where you want to speak and you get to a point when your mind makes up lots of scenarios of what could happen. Your brain could also be nervous of different outcomes forinstance rejection dont be scared, its a naturalpart of life). Nervousness about rejection can lead to different outcomes of your body like acting childish and stupidlyin front of this 'special someone'. So in short, dont be nervous, just think of posistive thoughts.2010-12-31 19:40:00

Yea, I know it's natural, but this person is my best friend, and I don't want to kill our friendship with my secret... And it is a secret, no one knows... Except you guys!2011-01-01 00:34:00

Those "idiots" are what we Americans call "Jack-***".

And Plaz brings up a point there: Do what you think is right. I mean, no one can make you do anything unless you want to, and, well... you've gotta pop the question sooner or later, or they might get away! And if it helps, just take deep breathes, close your eyes, and count to about 10 or 20; you'll know what to do by then.

But as for that Gok Wan weirdo... I dunno. :

Who ever said anything about popping any questions? That is, if your thinking what I'm thinking your thinking, then I'm only 14! 2011-01-01 03:41:00

I've been in exactly the same situation twice and it turned out bad both times the first time because I'm quite a nervous person as well I asked her out over msn and she rejected me this was 2 years ago and I've only spoken to her a couple of times since. On the separate occasion with a different person the news sort of got around that I liked this girl then I'm not sure if she had or not but everyone said she had a bf so I just laid off. Funny thing is I think she like likes me now :L Well that's what happened to me anyway though it might be completely different for you, she/he might feel the same for you Stay on the positive side and speak your mind.
