Animal love!

I know a lot of people here love animals. If any of you like to talk about your pets as much as I do, I want to hear from you. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind of pets? A picture of your pet(s) is always welcome too! My avatar pic is of my little black cat. She is tiny, weighing in at like 3 pounds. She is around 2 years old. I have another cat, a boy who is grey. I got him when he was a wee kitten, but he has grown into a really big cat! I also used to have a horse, a ferret, a rat, a racoon, and a dog. How about you? | 2010-12-30 20:26:00 Author: Creekey Posts: 116 |
Woah, I expected something else when I clicked the thread name! o_O Anyways, I don't have any pets at the moment. But I used to have a Lizard his name was Spikey he was awesome, but then one day his food (Some kind of worms) ate him. | 2010-12-30 20:30:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
What did you expect when you read the thread name? O.o You say, WORMS ate him?? So sad... lizards are so cute and small and cute. | 2010-12-30 20:55:00 Author: Creekey Posts: 116 |
I don't have any petz at the moment, but I can tell you about my first pet! His name was Bradley, a 2 year old cat from the Humane Society. I was supposed to buy a kitten that day, but for some reason Bradley had this connection with me that stuck. He was very loving and playful! Sadly, we had to give him away for some stupid reason -_-. Every cat (or any other pet) that I ever had, had to be given away to somebody Welp, there ya go! | 2010-12-30 20:59:00 Author: AbstractFlesh Posts: 837 |
Right now I just have a dog. But up till 4 days ago, I had a cat She crawled behind the couch and died December 26th sometime around 5 EST. She was 9. Probably sick, though we had no idea. Last time I saw her alive, she was staring into the furnace she loved to cuddle up by, as if she knew that the end was nigh... And my dog didn't even register her as being gone. No red fern growing here, that's for sure :/ But yeah, my dog is around 4. He sleeps in the cage at the foot of my bed, and... yeah he's pretty much mine. ;-; | 2010-12-30 21:02:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
My family had a dog when I was really young, though they had it for a long time before I was born, so we had to give the guy away, since he got old. At the moment there are spiders who we keep in our house, jolly fellows! Look, are they not cute? http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/spider-hell.jpg (That's from google, it is not nearly as bad here XD) | 2010-12-30 22:13:00 Author: moonwire Posts: 1627 |

Evanesced- Thats sad that you had to give up your cat for adoption! That is so hard to do. When I was little we used to live out in the country with lots of land. But when we moved we had to give up 2 of our dogs, 3 of our cats, and all 3 of our horses. I know what you mean about that "connection" you talked about, I have had it with pets of mine as well. The only bond I have ever formed with an adult animal however, was with my horse, Cody. He had dark brown hair like mine. Every time I would come in his corral he would follow me around and try to eat my hair. It was the cutest thing. I hope one day you can have a pet that you won't have to give up for adoption. It is really nice to watch a pet grow. RockSauron- I am very sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose an animal. I definitely think cat's know when the "end is nigh", as you say. My grandparents own a farm and they have had lots of cats through the years to keep the barnes mice free. They told me once that they noticed that the cats would always venture away from home in the very end. A few days later, they would be found passed away, out in one of the fields. The cats are outdoor cats, so of course they always come and go, but never for days at a time. So my grandparents pretty much know now, when an old cat hasn't been seen for a while, that they went off to die in alone, in peace. It is so wierd how it's like the cats don't want any drama surrounding their passage. I had an indoor cat that showed the same reclusiveness in the end, so I think its something that cats just do. And that's the thing about dogs. Their world mostly revolves around only one thing: you. What kind of dog go you have? Moonwire- That picture reminds me of the stay I had in my relative's house that was full of brown recluse spiders. Yeah I definitely got a lot of sleep when I was there. Oh, the memories. Rapid-Coot- hahahahahahahaha... >.< | 2010-12-30 22:52:00 Author: Creekey Posts: 116 |
mistervista and I have 2 cats. Socks is a 14 year old very small and now bony lady and Casey is a 6/7 year old mr bruiser. Socks is poorly with irritable bowel disease. She is being kept comfortable at the moment with special food, steroids, anti-biotics and liquid that goes on her food to stop her tummy getting upset. She won't get better I'm afraid, so we just have to take one day at a time and see how she goes. Casey is a scrapper and he quite often comes in bleeding and damaged! | 2010-12-30 23:20:00 Author: mrsvista Posts: 755 |

@xKappax Wow Kappa! You have had a lot of pets! Being a bit more real than my least post; I have 2 cats, one of which I rescued myself. ^_^ I also have two dogs. I love animals! I wanna be a Vet! But anyway, I have a 9 year old Black Lab mix, Madison! She is the best dog ever, except that she hates the pools, so she won't swim, and she has a begging problem >.< I also have two cats, both 13. Ones names is Casper, we named him after Casper the Friendly Ghost because he is white and so affectionate! The other is Sophie, she is black and is a bit shy. She isn't quite as friendly as Casper, but when she does approach you, she is just as affectionate, if not more. Last but not least, there is Frankie, a 3 year-old Quaker Parrot, who is quite confrontational, but if he knows you well enough, he is the sweetest bird ever! He seems to hate my dad and best friend, for no reason what so ever! Maybe later I'll update this post with pictures of look-a likes I can find on google [EDIT] Although I haven't gotten picture quite yet, I can't forget the ones who have gone! We used to have two other Quaker Parrots, Enzo and Rio. Unfortunatly, i was the cause of both demises... Enzo was in our family for about one year, but then one day, about 5 or 6 years ago, I was only about 8 or 9, I was hanging off our sofa and she was on the ground, and I slipped and fell :'( Then, with Rio, this incident was a little more than a year after the previous. Generally, as a bit of background knowledge for you, whenever Quaker Parrots hear their families, naturally, they chirp (Rather loudly, mind you). When I was younger, I was occasionally the first one awake and down stairs. Both of my parents worked that day, so it was only me, and my two older sisters. When Rio squawked, in fear of her waking anyone up, I put her out side (Not the cage, just the bird, since we have a screened in pool area. She went on a chair, since she had her wings clipped, and couldnt fly.) Now, me being stupid, I put her outside, believing I wouldn't forget to bring her back in. Later that day, my sisters and I went to one of my friends' houses. When my mom got home, she was the only one who noticed that Rio wasn't in her cage. We searched around the house, and when I remembered, I ran upstairs to one of my sisters' rooms and cried. While I was crying, they had found her sunk to the bottom of the pool, having drowned :'( Apparently, she had gotten thirsty and attempted to drink from our pool. She then fell in, and only being a parrot, couldn't swim. All of our Quaker parrots were green, and approximently the same size. Rio and Enzo were female, and Frankie is a male. Neither Rio nor Enzo made it past one year old, but Frankie is already 3 and doing great, most likely we have all learned from our mistakes and Frankie will live as long as possible (The average lifespan of a Quaker Parrot is about 55 years!) We also had a rabbit, Tuggles. He is/was white with brown and black spots, and occasionally aggressive. He was mine, until we decided that, because of school, I no longer had the time to properly care for him, so we gave him to a family with a big yard and other bunnies that lived near our church. Seeing as Tuggles no longer lived with us, and the family moved else where (They still live close by, we just lost contact with them) we assume Tuggles is alive and well, living else where (Although he technically belonged to that family, all of the rabbits are independent, therefore free to come and go as they pleased.) I'll get those pics up soon! EDIT AGAIN! Look-alikes! @ Bremnen Chameleon's are the cutest! I don't know if you have ever seen "Creature Comforts" but they have a great clay animation of chameleons who are supposed to be waiting to be adopted in a pet store. It's a long video but if you fast forward to about 1.00, you can see the chameleons. Watch the eyes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZ-sBf7laMM | 2011-01-05 15:58:00 Author: Creekey Posts: 116 |
I had a pet cat my little brother who is a toy story fanboy named him Woody. He was awesome however had a problem with getting his urine in the right place anyways! We realized this was because he had a bladder infection he was cured but then in the summer 2010 we came back from a holiday in Chalkidiki (Pronounced Halkidiki) He had another bladder infection so he was sent off to the vets... Then we got a phone call saying he passed away and this was a big emotional blow to my family. Even now when I cycle home I miss his pawing at the window waiting for me to feed him... Mia, female pug http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=24766 Fluffy, female python, deceased http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7956 I just noticed these pics were taken on the same chair lol. Don't worry, I never let them in the same room together. But if you use your imagination, Fluffy is looking up at her slumbering prey... I also had a pet crayfish once (like a miniature lobster). Also female, lol, as I learned. I have the craziest stories with this pet. It was very fun to take her outside, rearrange the tank, watch her burrow and catch her food, etc. I never expected I would love a crayfish so much, but I did. I found her in a faraway swamp and decided to take her home. Everyone suggested I leave it be, saying it was a wild animal. At home, I plopped her in the tank (devoid of other fish because they passed away recently) and did a little bit of research on crayfish. Everything seemed fine. The next day, she was gone. I later learned they are notorious escape artists. I still don't know how a clumsy crayfish climbed 6 inches up a slippery filter pipe, crawled out the top, and somehow fell 6 feet to the ground without dying, but sure enough she somehow managed to do it. I knew most crayfish lasted for 3 hours at most without water. I looked everywhere. Everywhere. I cautiously overturned every piece of furniture, looked in every crevice, and got my family to help. Still no sign of the crayfish. After searching for around an hour, I went into the crawl space, a storage area blocked by sliding doors with a small gap underneath. I didn't think she could fit, so I didn't think to look there at first. The crawl space has even more boxes and crevices than the rest of the basement, but again, I looked. No luck. I had to go somewhere and was already late. I went into the crawl space one last time to turn the lights off before leaving. To my astonishment, I walked between the doors and there was a fat grey dust bunny crawling across the hall. I scooped her up, washed off a lint roller's worth of dust, placed her in the tank, and covered the escape hatches. If I turned off the lights 15 seconds earlier or 15 seconds later, I wouldn't have found her. Crayfish are also supposed to live for 2 or 3 years at the most, and she ended up living for around a year in my tank though she was already mature. Somewhere along that line she laid eggs and bundled them underneath her tail. She ate them, possibly because there wasn't a male to fertilize them, or maybe because she didn't see the tank as a fit place for her young. Moulting was always stressful, where she lost a limb once. It grew back completely, but then she lost the other one. Her death was a result of moulting too. It was the first time I actually saw the process and not just the leftover shell. But as time went on, the struggle was slower and slower and movement was more and more infrequent. It was sad, but moulting is a dangerous process for older crayfish and I'm happy she lived for so long. | 2011-01-07 04:59:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |

@Creekey Those eyes are creepy o: @Cin I know not this 'Crayfish' you speak of. Though, I do know of Crawfish. - - The name "crayfish" comes from the Old French word escrevisse (Modern French ?crevisse) from Old Frankish *krebitja (cf. crab), from the same root as crawl. The word has been modified to "crayfish" by association with "fish" (folk etymology). The largely American variant "crawfish" is similarly derived | 2011-01-07 10:23:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

I'd like a raccoon but I hear they're awful pets. They'll tear down walls, randomly bite even if has not for years and cause severe injury, banned in certain states of the US, and require a license. The usual pet stuff... http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f62/TymonTheThief/CuteRaccoon.jpg "Sup?" So next best thing is ferret, of which I will not get at least until all my other pets have deceased. Sounds awful...but I really don't think I should get any more pets right now... http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll87/musicalnessrox/11844263730X99mK.jpg Pure evil? / HMMM... | 2011-01-14 02:27:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
lol, I didn't even know raccoons were pets people got.. I hear ferrets are stinky pets, but have no personal experience so can't say. Hey though, if you want to take a walk down the wild side of things, look up Savannah Cats for that perfect combo of cute, wild, and exotic. Then look up fennec foxes for that cuteness-meter breaking appeal. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2192/1813051167_f6a4652b3f.jpg My head exploded from that cuteness overload. | 2011-01-14 02:39:00 Author: KoingWolf Posts: 386 |
I've got a story to tell of something that happened to my pets last night. It was around 7:30 PM, and my sister had called me to pick her up from the train station. As I was getting ready to go, I went to go put the dogs out since they hadn't been out for a while. My oldest dog, Fallon who is 15 however had pooed already by the door, so I let them outside and, resentfully picked up some poo. I then got into my car and drove to the train station to pick up my sister. I was gone for about 15-20 minutes. When I came back in the house, I went to go and let the dogs back inside. "Fallon!, Jack!" I called out.......nothing. Again, I called, but still.....nothing. It was then I knew something was up. I went around to the back of my garden where, a gate had blown open. They had run away. O_____0. My parents are abroad at the moment, so this was on me. They were my responsibility and I'd f'd it up. "We've got to go, NOW!" I explained to my sister, as I was setting off to go and look for them. Jack, the younger dog, actually has some brains and stuck close to the house, so we found him within 2 minuets. Fallon, who is 15 on the other hand was nowhere to be seen. I'd taken then on a walk earlier that day, so I thought i'd take that route and hope to find her. If I couldn't, she was done for. A 15 year old dog, with bad hearing and a limp on a cold night? Not looking good. Nothing. I found zip, nada, nothing. What was I going to do? How could I explain this to my mum? I walked back to my house, a good 10 minuets away, and got in the car. I figured I'd have a bigger search area if I drove. I drove all around town for at least an hour, stopping in landmarks she might go to, and asking people if they had seen her. After a long time searching, there was nothing else I could do. I'd looked as hard as I could. I retired back to my house, very tired, and very stressed out. I went to sit down, angry at myself and my dog for being so dense. I'd given up hope. How could I tell my Mum that the dog we've had for 15 years is gone? "Wooof" came a bark from outside. The stupid dog had come home. I didn't know what to think. Where was she? Had she been here the whole time? Needless to say, I was pretty angry, so I took her to her bed, shut off the lights and closed the door. I had to sit down again. What was going on? Then the door bell rang. It was all the people I had asked to help look for me. They had found her wandering down a busy road, almost getting hit by cars. They couldn't get close to her as she was scared, so instead had to shepherd her back to my house. I could not thank them enough. Of course, my dogs are non the wiser and look at me as if nothing's wrong. Stupid animals. I hate them sometimes, I really do. Not exactly "Animal Love" eh? TL;DR: My dogs ran away last night. | 2011-01-15 10:05:00 Author: Mr_T-Shirt Posts: 1477 |
