Car help

My brain is full of fluff trying to figure this out I've made a car with a 3-way switch to control it and I want the car when it reaches a certain point to come to a complete stop, even if so and so player is still pulling the switch down.

Wat do? I also need it to be a 3-way switch because I need the car going left and right. Kind of like the second car part in the first metropolis level.

The simpleist thing I can think of is to emit invisible dark matter behind and in front of the car when it reaches this point. That way it won't move.

Trust me - in LBP2 it gets way easier!

Do you know a way I can do this on LBP2 beta then? I did think dark matter but the parts I want them to stop is so I can move the car on a platform to a different spot.2010-12-30 14:46:00

1. Make a circuit board.
2. Place a node (basically place a wire on the circuitboard, running from your 3 way switch) on that circuitboard.
3. Run a wire from the node to the wheels of the car.
4. At some point, switch off the circuitboard.

It isn't possible to disable and then enable a 3-way switch in LBP1 since the wire carries information on the 3 states of the switch (positive, negative, and "at rest") and you cannot perform logic operations on it. However, there are three other possible solutions:-

1. Use grab-switches instead of a 3-way switch to move the car forward and backward, and 2-way AND gates to disable them.
2. Create your own 3-way switch using a sprung bolt and a couple of magnetic switches, and 2-way AND gates.
3. Use invisible dark matter to stop the car and emit some invisible dark matter behind the car to prevent it from reversing.

However you choose to solve the problem I would also recommend using some invisible dark matter (as mentioned in the previous posts) to ensure that the car stops in the correct position and doesn't over-shoot due to its momentum.

Alternatively, you could wait for the release of LBP2 as this will be very easy to do using the new logic system.
