Sounds like a really great story and concept! I may throw LBP in and check it out | 2010-12-30 04:41:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
you should probably have speech bubble in beginning to warn the person to turn community objects on so they dont have to restart. Hehe, I agree. It was fun, I missed a couple music pads, but I hopped fast enough that it didn't squish me, lol. | 2010-12-30 05:21:00 Author: Unknown User |
"you should probably have speech bubble in beginning to warn the person to turn community objects on so they dont have to restart" Thanks Sabre I didn't think of this. Really appreciate the feedback. I'll play your sonic level tonight, looking forward to it as the screenshots look great!. | 2010-12-30 22:58:00 Author: Destiny_Waits Posts: 49 |
I played this level for the F4F on my level. Very musical level! I really liked how you made all the instruments, they looked really good! And I really like how whenever it would focus on and intrument the music would change to match it, very nice touch! Great level! | 2010-12-31 05:21:00 Author: SackRacer77 Posts: 153 |
looks cool! gunna play it when i have time, will post review. | 2011-01-01 10:48:00 Author: nerzdadestroyer Posts: 1527 |
Great idea for a level. The drum bit, started to get to me but I made it through. i love the use of all the instruments especially the violins with the interactive music set to just the violin part. The guitar had this also, but it wasn't obvious if it was like that for all the different areas. I found no secrets though I did have a bit of a look around. Would like a light on the fire balls which leap up from between the drums - they very hard to see with all the seizure inducing lights. I've since changed the lighting in the drum area to make it easier to get across. I'll post feedback on your level shortly, I played it yesterday but would like to give it another shot as I didn't manage to reach the scoreboard. | 2011-01-02 14:41:00 Author: Destiny_Waits Posts: 49 |
First allow me to say I enjoyed your level. Specifically, I think you created some very fine inventive gameplay moments... can't say I ever remember hoping across a bow before! I myself like to create free-flowing levels... and some of your mechanics to move from set piece to set piece were just excellent. So good for you. Very artistic- very creative. I really loved the intro and outro... although the latter lasted alittle too long for my personal tastes and my pennence was death by invisible gas. Your also very good with the corner editor, those npc cutouts were done very well and I know personally those notes aren't easy... yet yours had a melody about the curves, a fact I couldn't help but notice especially when compared to your lack of use of it in the level proper. Most of the set pieces could only be enhanced from your obvious skills with it. As far as the platforming goes-- it was inventive and I only really had trouble with (the first tambourine?) timing seemed really absurd to me... anyway, I personally struggled abit with the piano and was really happy to finally scoot past there! Thanks for a pleasant diversion | 2011-01-04 04:44:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
As promised, I played this Well, this level was very musical and you did a great job with the platforming on the instruments and also the piano in the beginning. I really liked how you used the metal gear solid music to seem like it was coming from the violin (sorry if it actually is some other instrument, lol) I think you could maybe have but a little bit more effort into the enviroments, I know you could make them a little prettier since the instruments looked really good Maybe I should have played it again since I don't think I found any secret areas Anyways, great level, I gave it five stars | 2011-01-04 12:22:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |

I agree the environments could use some detail, unfortunately I completely maxed the thermo to the point it overheats if I even try to corner edit an object, there was so much more I wanted to do with it that the thermo wouldn't allow Roll on LBP2! | 2011-01-04 18:40:00 Author: Destiny_Waits Posts: 49 |
Hi Destiny waits......I 'DID' write a nice long review of your game earlier, typing as I played, and not for the first time, i blooming pressed 'some' button, no idea what and lost it all....agghhhhh! I hate this forum sometimes,....or is that, I hate ME sometimes? I can't really add much to what people have already mentioned, but am happy to skip over a few things in my own words. WOW at your corner editing, and musical instruments, VERY nice to see. I liked a lot of the platforming, though I found the drums part hard to jump over, it was a lot of fun. The part I disliked/didn't enjoy was the Chello part, the bow moves so quickly that it is VERY hard to time that jump to the next bow, and the camera switching between the two gave me the start of a migraine (well, not exactly, but if i DID suffer from migraines, I'm sure I would have got one! lol) I had in the review I lost, asked about the thermo, but you have now answered that question.....The instruments were SO well done, yet the background let it down in places, but heck, with no thermo left, you cant do much about that for now huh? **** good effort, some fun platforming and some great 'WOW' moments, congrats! If you could F4F my level ' House of the flying diggers' i'd be muchly grateful! | 2011-01-04 19:45:00 Author: Shade_seeker Posts: 328 |
sounds cool I'll play it later | 2011-01-04 19:58:00 Author: Unknown User |

@ Shade_seeker, thanks for your feedback on my level. I'll take a look at that camera as soon as I get chance, I know the one you mean. Looking forward to checking out House of the flying diggers! Will post on your thread once I have. | 2011-01-05 11:17:00 Author: Destiny_Waits Posts: 49 |
Hey Destiny, just replayed your level as I noticed from LBP.me that you had updated it last night.....even though I knew what to do at the chello this time i still found it VERY hard, and the camera angles switching made me feel sick lol Still LOVE that piano! Is that a new bit that you added near the end where you jump on the three note jumpy thing to follow the arrow up and to the left? Am wondering why your thermo is heating up so badly on this level, is it due to the BLACK piano i wonder? There doesnt seem to be that much advance tech or lots of different materials ???? I'm wondering if something could be changed to get thermo down abit? Add me if you need/want help. shade. | 2011-01-07 09:51:00 Author: Shade_seeker Posts: 328 |
Overall, I loved the concept, but I felt that there were points where the execution had something to be desired. The piano puzzle was a bit glitchy and easy to accidentally cheat (sliding onto the keys instead of pushing down, for example) which turned out to be a godsend because some of the jumps were just a bit too hard to make accurately. The violin part was hard to time. I found myself finally being flung in the right direction, only for the second violin to move out of my way, causing me to fall to my doom. Apart from those problems, I had a lot of fun with this level. The visuals were very attractive (The instruments were gorgeous!) and the concept of using stickers to solve puzzles instead of just using them to gain score bubbles was a novel concept that I hadn't seen before. Four stars! | 2011-01-07 14:35:00 Author: The Doctor Posts: 18 |
I don't have too much to add that hasn't already been said. I agree with everyone else that you have some sweet corner editing skills! The instruments looked great! The hands of the crowd at the end looked really good too. I thought the part where you had to step on the colored keys to avoid death was a fun idea. I had a lot of trouble getting the timing right on the violins. Only by chance did I end up getting over to the second one. Pretty cool level though. | 2011-01-07 17:04:00 Author: skumchunk Posts: 57 |
+ Very enjoyable puzzle/platforming on the keyboard. + Band looks great, love the drum kit. + "Shhhh..." sticker. Because that's exactly what I said! - Fireballs can be hard to see, perhaps add a light to each one? - Had a little trouble on the violins. Checkpoints should always be a safe haven for the player. -+ Piano. Can be problematic as the player layer switches to the back keys. - Unclear direction on harp? - Empty space left of finish gate. Had fun. Nice level. | 2011-01-07 19:54:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
I just added this level to my queue. I'll try to check it out tonight and get you some feedback. I saw that you played my Christmas level. Thanks for the heart! I plan to start a F4F thread for my Halloween level later this afternoon, but it's on the servers now if you're interested. It's called "Trick Or Terror!" You can find it here: http://lbp.me/v/wbbcks Here's a screen shot: http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29114&d=1294430290&thumb=1&stc=1 29114 BronchoNate http://lbp.me/search?q=bronchonate | 2011-01-07 20:00:00 Author: BronchoNate Posts: 38 |
Thanks for all the feedback, updated the violin section this eve to make it easier. Camera angles changed to give a better view of the next violin and tracking taken off to prevent them flicking back and forth. Thanks to Shade_Seeker for playing it through with me tonight and for the opportunity to see his mind boggling logic behind digger wars - Einstein comes to mind lol. This is only my second level and I'm very much a novice, so I appreciate any time taken to play it and glad to hear most of you have had fun in the process | 2011-01-07 21:33:00 Author: Destiny_Waits Posts: 49 |
I saw that you played my Christmas level. Thanks for the heart! I plan to start a F4F thread for my Halloween level later this afternoon. I played it but wanted to play through again before adding my review as I got distracted and then forgot a few points I wanted to add. I'll check out your new level also, really liked the ideas used in your Christmas level so it would be a pleasure to see what else you have up your sleeve Review to follow shortly. | 2011-01-07 21:49:00 Author: Destiny_Waits Posts: 49 |
Hey destiny_waits. Thanks for all the feedback on Little Big Christmas and Trick or Terror! I played Little Big Noise and really enjoyed it. + Great concept! + Cool intro. + VIP sticker switch was a nice touch. + Nice variety of instruments and great representations of each one, especially the violins, guitar and horn. + Nice music choice for the violin bit. I love Metal Gear! - The harp was confusing. I kept wanting to slide down it (which was fun!) but obviously not what I was supposed to do. It took me a few deaths before I realized that the gas was missing in one place below the harp, so I jumped down and hoped for the best. Maybe you could pull the camera back more, so people can see where they're supposed to go? And it's too bad that sliding down the harp is not part of the path you're supposed to take because it's so much fun to do. - The tamborines were a bit frustrating, too. I couldn't see where I was supposed to go and I just had to use a lot of trial and error. Maybe slow the tambourines down a little bit? Not much, you don't want to make it too easy, but it was a nerve-wracking and not for the right reasons. +- The drums were an excellent addition, but maybe a little too bouncy? I don't know if I was supposed to do this, but I wound up just jumping on the edges of the drums, outside of the trigger radius. Was this what I was supposed to do? Was I supposed to avoid bouncing at all? Because almost every time I did, I would die on those spikes. Bouncing was a lot of fun, and you pulled off the effect well. I just wish the spikes would have been a *bit* higher or the drums a *bit* less bouncy so I didn't hit them almost every time. + Great visual theme/color scheme. + The "find the band" challenge was cool and unique. It's too bad, though, that you didn't find them actually doing things that band members would do that would make them late for a gig, like trashing a hotel room or getting mobbed by groupies. This would have been fun to see but maybe your thermo woundn't allow something like that. Wonderful level! I definitely want to go back and play this one again. I can't remember if I hearted it, but it deserves one and you'll get one from me. -- BronchoNate | 2011-01-10 18:13:00 Author: BronchoNate Posts: 38 |
Oh yeah, I forgot one more slight negative: The piano looked like a piano and worked wonderfully, but it was a bit boring to look at. Maybe that's because real pianos are boring-looking? Probably. Well, I think you could fix this by making less of the piano accessible. I found myself running across great expanses of shiny black piano only to find nothing. Some well-placed poisonous gas would fix this. | 2011-01-10 18:17:00 Author: BronchoNate Posts: 38 |
Hi BronchoNate, thanks for the detailed review!. I was looking forward to hearing what you had to say about it, a few of the things mentioned are already noted for my next update which I'm hoping to make time for tomorrow. I've added notes below: - The harp was confusing. I was thinking about adding an arrow, but then there is only really one safe place you can go and I didn't want to make it too easy. Pulling the camera back is something I didn't think of but a great idea!. Unfortunately the shape of the harp doesn't create enough momentum to carry the player all the way so I made a diversion to make the ride last a little longer. - The tamborines were a bit frustrating, too. I couldn't see where I was supposed to go and I just had to use a lot of trial and error. Maybe slow the tambourines down a little bit? Not much, you don't want to make it too easy, but it was a nerve-wracking and not for the right reasons. I added cameras to this area but they don't zoom out as far as I'd prefer. I'll take a look at the speed and see if slowing them down a notch helps. +- The drums were an excellent addition, but maybe a little too bouncy? I don't know if I was supposed to do this, but I wound up just jumping on the edges of the drums, outside of the trigger radius. Was this what I was supposed to do? That's how I get across sometimes, other times I just go from one to the next and manage to get straight through if i don't stop. It can be tricky depending on timing, but if you go straight for the next you don't usually end up bouncing between the two. I did consider increasing radius so they couldn't stick to the sides, but decided to leave it for those having trouble in this section. For the first few drums Its better to let them bounce you because if you bounce at the same time you'll most likely hit the spikes. I personally think its the hardest part of the level, but the two spawn points make it a bit less challenging. + The "find the band" challenge was cool and unique. It's too bad, though, that you didn't find them actually doing things that band members would do that would make them late for a gig, like trashing a hotel room or getting mobbed by groupies. This would have been fun to see but maybe your thermo wouldn't allow something like that. This was exactly the plan when I started the level, I intended to use cutscenes to show each member as the player found each of them, but the unforgiving thermo was having none of it. As for the Piano, Midnight_Heist also mentioned this and I'm planning to block areas off on the next update. Wonderful level! I definitely want to go back and play this one again. I can't remember if I hearted it, but it deserves one and you'll get one from me. Thank you Broncho and really appreciate the feedback!. Noticed you didn't mention the violins being too hard, which is great because it hopefully means the new camera angle put an end to that!. | 2011-01-11 03:25:00 Author: Destiny_Waits Posts: 49 |
