I was thinking of starting up a youtube channel about minecraft obviously I would need footage to do this how would i obtain such footage(lol). It needs to be FREE and record at a decent quality, what can you recommend?

Xfire is free and has a recording feature, don't know if it works on minecraft because I use fraps (paid, but you should know where to look). if it does, you'll also need a program to compress the video because the files are pretty large. WeGame has one too I think, not sure.

he Free version of Fraps is very useful, but annoyingly leaves a watermark... But this could easily be cropped of the final product

Xfire for sure. ( man i miss my laptop,... all of my pc games are on it, and when i'm not playing lbp, im usually playing that, until it crashed the other day, when i was about to start a trackmania video series. T.T i haven't talked to my Xfire buddies in nearly a month. no.. more than a month. I DESPISE YOU VISTA! wait... did i just say that out loud? meh. Just use xfire. It's easy, it works, and, i don't believe it makes a watermark. plus, you can use it for other stuff to. xfire should be added to the freeware list in the general media section... i suggessted it, it just isn't there yet. * EDIT * oh, wait, yes it is there. under IM, because that is the main purpose of it. But eh recording funtion is pretty awesome.

Or use CamStudio which works fine with GREAT quality =)
