Are the original unpatched LBP Disc ever going to be a collectors item?

Archive: 9 posts

Just a thought that I had. I own one of the discs that were not supposed to be released way back when the music debacle happened. I never really thought about how rare those discs maybe if at all. But, if they are rare then I would think that they maybe worth something, right?

How many people here have an original release LBP disc and is there anyway of telling the two versions apart other than playing them.

Ooh! Sounds interesting, I don't think it's worth too much at the moment. Maybe someone that really loves LBP and would like to see how it was back then, might buy it for a high price (like me xD).2010-12-30 00:27:00

Wouldn't an update have fixed the music?!?! Because they could sue Mm for still having users have that song.2010-12-30 03:55:00

That's true a update did fix it but like Alec said maybe in the future, say years when Sony no longer holds the updates on the servers or when PS3 support is gone (shudder), then you can play the game with the original music.

My one question is, is there a way of telling the difference between the old disk and the patched ones?

I quite like it with the vocals, actually.

IMO, this wasn't so much as a legal complaint as a 'omg this offend meh lolllololoo trollface.jpg' complaint. So if they tried to bring it to court... well, they couldn't. First Amendment. And to be honest, the people that were sufficiently stuck up to care weren't going to be buying the game anyways, so I kind of have agrudge due to this fantastic song being castrated.

LBP is the epitome of an international game ^^^ and many children with undecided outlooks on life might have been denied playing the game by their more proper and traditional family. I can live without the vocals, and I've heard it that way for so long that it just doesn't sound right to me.

anyway... anything can be collectible to someone. in gaming, obscurity dictates price when something goes from being a flop to being a sleeper hit with a cult following. i say a recalled LBP1 would really only be in demand in the future if LBP becomes a franchise that lasts for decades, or depending on wether MM gets a cult following for all their future games ala Treasure. Then, a person who must have ALL media molecule variants to put in their collection... yeah they'll want it.

I don't predict it getting some, like, Rondo of Blood or Panzer Saga status. An 'only 10 exist' rare NES cart value, maybe. That'll be in a looong time.

Serial numbers could be verified without opening. Someone would have to have that info.

Well, I'm glad they took the lyrics out. Not because I don't like them. I just don't like to hear people singing when playing a game. When I got the PSP LBP I couldn't stand that song from one of the first levels with the girl singing. I would rather have just background music. And this song makes a good background music. One of my favorites in the game. Thank you whoever complained.2010-12-31 03:57:00
