I guess Bioshock 2 was the top one last year it was a great singleplayer experience thought I'm still waiting for the dlc for pc :/. I also really liked Metro 2033 and STALKER: Call of Pripyat but I can't think of any adventure games I played.

Mmm, tough one. Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2 for shooters (I know some people only consider FPS games to be true shooters but eh). I probably know a few good ones for the other category, but I can't think of them at the moment.
