I'm not in beta so can't show pictures just keep that in mind, but will post pics from lbp to show what i have so far. In do time.
I will be attempting to make a minecraft game and i'll just give a list of what I will be putting on it to give you a idea.
Animals: chickens, cows, sheep.
Enemy's: creepers, zombies, skeletons, spiders.
weapons/tools: swords, bows, picks, axes, shovels.
I will try to add as much stuff from minecraft into this, but not sher how to do some of it.
It will side view if any one wants to know.

Updated: I already know how i was going to make it randomly generate, but thats not my problem at the moment.
I already understand enough about both minecraft and LBP2 to combine them.
You guys think I would post an idea with out having a basic understanding of what I'm doing?

Hmm, sounds do able, the only thing that wouldn't really work is prehaps how the minecraft playing field is randomly generated, i'm not sure how you'd do that...
Water and Lava would be possible because it doesn't flow fluently, it flows in blocks, so you could use an animated flowing material and have the water source emit water 'blocks' in certain spaces if there is room (by that I mean if there isn't a block in its way). Basically the same prinicple for lava (:
either way, sounds good, good luck with it.

if you need help with how stuff in minecraft works, google for 'Minecraft wiki', and one of the first few results should be a little wiki all about minecraft, very useful.

And another one for minecraft in LBP 2 ! Welcome to the club ^.^! xD
Well, the problem in the randomly generated world is not the logic, it's the thermo. Because, I'm not sure of that, but I think LBP 2's engine does not support over 1000 (9000 xD) cubes in the level.
AND the water would be pretty easy to make, with holographic materials and an impact sensor. I didn't think of that before :o.

I have an idea for how to make semi-randomly generated terrain.

1. divide the playing area in to columns, say, 3 "blocks" wide

2. Create 3 or 4 different versions of each column.

3. connect a randomizer to an emitter for each variation of each column

4. make it so that when the player enters the level, the emitters emit a random combination of the columns

Even if the columns were relatively wide, there would be enough different combinations to keep it from getting old. Also, since this is Minecraft the columns don't have to line up particularly well. I have one question about the level, would the player have an inventory of all the blocks that rhey collected, or would they have an infinite supply, which would be easier both logic and thermo wise. The idea of a Minecraft level sounds really clever and I'll be sure to play it.

Ok I've never played Minecraft but its the game where you create/destroy different types of blocks to create something right?? I really don't get the point of a Minecraft level in LBP since there's one of the greatest create modes of any game ever made in it!!! Also since LBP is only 3 layers it might limit things that can be made in your minecraft level.
It might be cool to try as a sort of demonstration but if people want to really express themselves or make themselves isn't the create mode the best place to go?

In Minecraft, the are 2 modes: Classic and Survival. In classic you don't have life, no ennemies, and you destroy blocks with a single touch. You can't craft materials either.
In Survival there are ennemies at night (and at day too, even if less), if a block is stone and you want to destroy it, it won't be the same time as grass/wood.
You also get the materials you get. You build mines and all and it's awesome .

And well, I think making a level creator in a level/game creator is quite impressive xD.

This idea sounds extremely fun/interesting. What will determine its success is the execution. One idea you could think about is not focusing so much on the random terrain or rpg elements but maybe just the enemies and adventuring.2010-12-30 00:07:00

Yeah, but the random terrain is the most fun part of Minecraft (for me).
It have everything: caves (with monsters that scare the hell outta meh :O), secret ressources, more caves and some beautiful places on the bottom :3 (there is lava, it's beautiful ).
However, the game will be in "2D", so the monster won't scare you, because you'll be able to see all the screen :/.

How will you fit the map generator algorithms in to lbp2?2010-12-31 16:36:00

hey, i've got a pretty stupid idea for the random terrain generator. you could have one block that moves horizontally across the map, "printing" blocks (with emmiters), and then once it's gotten far enough it will move up a block and print another line. What it prints could be determined by a randomiser, whether it be sand, soil, rock, ect. or nothing atall. the only problem is that each line would be independent so i cant think of a way of making them form, for example, smooth hills or chunks of rock.

anyway hope this gives you some ideas. I'll probably make my own version eventually, it sounds fun. good luck with yours.

Edit: i guess if the emmiter block could "read" the blocks underneath it, it could determine what the next one should be, but i dunno. this is getting really complicated, i can't really explain what i mean
