Socketbot Adventures

A platforming adventure series created by yours truly: AeroForce22. Take control of one of many socketbots, a strange variant of sackbot loved for its access to spontaneous electricity. The Negativitron has taken notice of this feature and has enslaved all but a few of the socketbots. It’s up to you, and a few other interesting comrades, to save your race and defeat the Negativitron once and for all.

More information on this series exists, but I'm withholding most of it for right now as to not create spoilers. I'm sure most don't care about spoilers for a user created series, but I'm trying to emphasize story with this series. Therefore it might not be compelling right now, but I hope it will be later. I'll update with more info when I feel it's alright to release such info. Or if I get a big enough response to.

Controls

△ - Positive Action (i.e. enter Controlinator; re-open text bubbles when possible, ect.)

◯ - Negative Action (i.e. close speech bubbles, exit Controlinator, ect.)
R1 - Grab
L1 - Sackbot Specific Ability
R2 - Move left arm
L2 - Move right arm
R3 - Added functionality in the future
L3 - Added functionality in the future

Characters
------------------------------------
Amp (The Voiceless, Yet Extraordinary Socketbot) - The player controls Amp. He has the ability to electrify himself while holding L1. This allows for him to take no harm from electrified hazards or enemies. This ability will also become useful for generating power to generators, which will have a really cool name and design once I think of it. They’ll relate to the Negativitron in a way, but you and your team figure out a way to use the machines powered by said generators against the Negativitron. Amp can’t talk, therefore his personality comes off as shy. However, he’s very brave, valiant, and ambitious.

Surge (The Witty and Sarcastic Socketbot Geezer) - Surge has the ability to hack machines with green energy passing through them (as seen in the demo released in the beta). This ability allows the team and him to venture through the factories and other settings without any interruptions. When controlling Surge himself, he has the ability to hack hardware when pressing L1 next to a piece of machinery that’s hackable. Often times Surge will have to separate from the main character and crawl through say, an air vent to reach said machinery. This will result in multiple reactions, such as security cameras disabling, doors opening, and enemies becoming disabled or even having enemies work for your own purposes. Surge is an ‘older’ model of socketbots, and therefore he makes wise-cracks at this throughout the game. He’s generally funny in a sarcastic manner and can seem unfriendly, but he’s just an adorable old geezer at his heart...errr, microchip.

Poor socketbot needs some help! Seems as though he's trapped inside a television screen...err...maybe not.

I have more, but I seem to have not uploaded them. :x I'll get to that soon.

For those of you in the beta, feel free to queue it up. I understand there are currently some issues with the partner sackbot getting stuck or crushed or whatever, and I am aware of these issues, but I have ended the development of everything in the beta currently and fixes will not be made to this demo. :x Hopefully you all understand seeing as how the beta is possibly ending in only a week. Also, that little microchip material thing is the key. You must bring it inside the chamber with the partner socketbot while carrying it with the grabinators. I thought I gave pretty good directions with the cameras and text in the level, but some people found it to be confusing. Anyway...have fun. :x Mostly it was to show off the style and idea. Not so much gameplay and stuff yet.

sounds cool, would there be other ____bots to play as (i.e. pyrobot, aqaubot, strongbot)?

So far I've come up with 4 playable characters, each with their own abilities. I'll reveal the second one with due time. However the third and fourth you'll just have to meet in the retail version for spoiler reasons.

They're all socketbots that you meet throughout the story and therefore, each of their abilities are electrical related. Now Amp is the only one who can electrify himself, so think about what the others might do knowing that they don't electrify themselves. :3 Thanks for the comment, glad you're looking forward to it. ^o^ I'm always open to ideas for gameplay and design so I appreciate the input. :3

can you make one that squishes things/activates heavy switches...
I got it!
One has electro-telekinesis, i.e. electrifies a huge metal block, then levitates it on to a huge switch, or uses it to crush a powerful enemy.
I always like good stories, especially in a video game.

Electricity huh...

Levitation = magnets
Speed = lightning
Strength = power to the circuits
Shield/Repels = EMP/force-field
Takes Control = all electric things
Bolts of Lightning = shoots lightning
Sound/Color/Gamma Waves = electric waves
Light = invisible
Absorb Electricity = absorbs electricity
Static = attract/push away (similar to a magnet power)
Heat Up = puts enough current in something to melt it.
Atom = electrons

I think that's about every power I can think of that has to do with electricity.

All some great ideas you two, but so far neither of you have guessed any of the three others' abilities. xD Some of the guesses are pretty close though. I'll update with the second character either tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a project banner to head the top of the OP too.

I like the whole magnetism stuff though. Maybe I could incorporate that into a 5th character. :3 That is, if you're alright with me using such an idea.

I think it might be cool if you use that switch (forget what it's called) that counts when hit by projectiles. You can set it to water only, and if you get hit by those water droplets, you get electrocuted!

It could lead to some interesting puzzles where the player has to first turn off the water tap/sprinkler system/whatever to get to the next area!

And maybe have a character that can plug things into itself to give it power until unplugged! This way you could make the player activate the door by plugging itself in, and try to platform to the door with stretching the plug too much so it doesn't unplug! You could probably do this with a follower and a toggle.

Also, Tomeh, I like that water projectile sensor idea. The plug seems like it might be pretty difficult to make it look right...not so much to perform. I could try it though.

I think I have an idea
Make it so the plug-in thing is seen from behind. Attach a string to the plug-in thing and use it like a cord. Use a sensor, toggle, follower, and AND gate.

OH I guess there are more powers:

Shrinking/Growing = honey I shrunk the kids
Exploding = Over surge itself (GREAT NAME Sgt. Surge, though you already have surge as a name ToT)
Power Surge = fry a computer
Maybe make stuff out of electricity (though you can have it to where the heating idea is used to melt metal, and thus make a bridge or something)
Bypass security = do I need to explain?
Nanobots = Able to break up into little pieces and reassemble itself = imagine the player controlling bits of metal to go under a door or pipe. XD
Ability to go through walls = I actually have no idea how to explain this, or nanobots again?
Go into clouds = again I guess nanobots XD

Yes the wave of the future, nanobots.

I don't mind if you use any ideas, there are way too many for you to use all of them anyways.
