Revenge of The Outcasts! Update 2: Story Prologue/Teaser

My project, which right now I am calling "Revenge of the Outcasts" is a side-scrolling action adventure with an art style that uses the hologram material to makes outlines to create characters, and create and their animations. This will also use a Password Save system, if you don't have a piece of paper and a pen/pencil, then I will make stickers so all you have to do is press square(Or something) to receive the sticker when saving. This Game will Use animations for almost everything! But one day they were all taken out of to an Island where they would be exiled to, each of the 4 had their own reason for being sent to this island.He used to be a soldier in the Holo-Empire's army. He fought well, but one day he was left with a choice. He was close to getting in to the next empire's base, but just then one of the other army's soldiers had attacked Wally's ally. The soldier did not see him, so Wally could easily get into the enemy's base or kill the soldier. There was an archer watching in case somebody were to defend Wally's ally, so if Wally were to help the archer would sound the alarm making it impossible to enter the base. On the other hand, if Wally were to enter the base and finish the war, his ally would die. This person was not only a Brother-in-Arms, but a close friend. The choice Wally made is what got him to the islandMike "The Mechanic" was an inventor in the land of Holotopia. He would stay home working day and night on his inventions. Showing them off, he would get ridiculed and laughed at. He was upset with this because his new inventions could help all of Holotopia. People stopped finding him funny at some point, and some complained. Then one day the guards came to his house and imprisoned him. It was easy for him to escape because the guards did not care about the tools he had with him so they threw him in the dungeon not knowing he had everything he needed to escape. So later that night, BOOM! He exploded the jail cell and ran to his home. He gathered all of his schematics and left bombs scattered across his home. He blew up his own home to keep the technology from being found and used, because even if they laugh now, they may realize the potential later. After seeing what he had done, the king knew that no jail could hold him, so the best answer was to exile him.Nate was a spy working for the Holo-Empire. He received a special mission from the king. He had to infiltrate the enemy base during the current war. He was told not to fight anyone, and to keep himself unseen. Not a very smart decision. Nate was the greatest spy... but he would sometimes get a bit bloodthirsty. As he was sneaking across the city he saw the patrolling guards. Nate saw them walking oblivious to the fact that he was standing right behind him, Nate saw this as an opportunity, so he ran up behind them and killed them as quick as humanly possible. Afterwards he escaped the base hearing bells coming from the base, the enemy must have found the bodies. When Nate returned to the king, the king was furious. "Guards take him out of here! He must never be seen again!" the king said. That was the last time anybody saw Nate.In a way Ed is the "comical relief" of this story. He was a great magician and always kept his power to himself. He was also the king's jester. Running out of ideas for jokes and scenes, Ed decided to use his elemental powers to impress the king. Like anybody in this time period, the king screamed, "He's a witch! Burn him!" Ed was then put on the stake, and the guards attempted to burn him. It wasn't too hard to escape for somebody who can control the elements. He shot water out of his hands and doused the fire. He then burned part of the rope to free himself. Knowing he was to powerful they grabbed him and brought him to the exile boat. He didn't try to free himself because he saw his three friends in the boat waiting for him. He no longer felt bad about being exiled, but he was now excited!In chapter one you find all the characters on Exile Island. Wally and Mike are gathering wood, Nate is hunting for fish, and Ed is making a fire. When they sit down to eat around the fire they talk. The conversation is casual, but when Nate says a crude joke Wally doesn't laugh, not even a fake one. The other three notice this sense of frustration and try to figure out whats wrong. Wally - "Why!? Why are we stuck here! What makes us so different from them!" Silence between them all. Ed sits beside him. Ed - "We are to strong for them. They fear our power and they think exile will stop us." Nate - "But it won't." Everybody seemed confused by this statement, but Mike seems to get a small understanding of what he said." Mike - "What do you propose we do?" Nate - "Hmph. I though you of all people would know, Mike. Build a ship, we'll dock on one of the Holo-Illusionists' harbors." Wally - "They will recognize me. I was one of the Holo-Empire's main soldiers!" Ed - "Does it really matter? We are no longer a part of the Holo-Empire. I could send the Holo-Illusionists a letter. It will explain the situation. Then they should let us dock." The rest nodded at the idea. Ed put the letter in a bottle and put in the water. We controlled the wind around it to move toward a small village under Holo-Illusionist control.This empire is powerful and only wishes the death upon it's enemy. No time can be waisted in the villages that the empire owns. All time and money must be only for war! If you are not fighting, you are supporting the soldiers with weapons, or helping the king with one of his tasks.This empire contains a lot more intelligence than that of the Holo-Empire. They spend most of their time trying to improve their economy, as well as their technology. Although they are not fans of war, they do not lose so easily with their advantage, which would be their technologies and strategies. They do not have enough men to push forward in this war, but they have enough to keep their enemy away.Mike "The Mechanic" Nate "The Ninja" Wally "The Warrior" Ed "The Elementalist" Unlockable Characters (May not be created) Mitch "The Monk" - Unlockable By Finishing Game Ned "The Necromancer" - Unlockable By Sude Quest Paul "The Priest" - Unlockable By Side Quest Al "The Alchemist" - Unlockable By Side Quest This game will have a control scheme that uses almost every button. D-Pad = Menu Navigation X = Select O = BackD-Pad Left/Right = Move D-Pad Up = Jump D-Pad Down = Crouch/Pick Up/Investigate/Use X/O/Triangle/Square = Attack R2/L2 = Navigate Through Spells R1 = Use Spell (Main) L1 - Use Spell (Alternate) L3 = Open Menu (Will not pause game)To make this game more accesible to players of different play styles I will try to incorporate a stat system that involves the player picking their own stats, as well as a "Pick For Me" option. Stats are split up into two categories, Physical and Mental. Here is a list of stats and what they do. Physical - Health - Increases HP, allowing the character to take more damage before dying. - Strength - Increases damage, allowing the character to lower the enemy's HP more per hit. - Speed - Decreases delay counter time, allowing the character to string out multiple combos quicker. - Evasion - Increases chance of dodging enemy attacks, allowing the character to take no damage from time to time. Mental - Magic Capacity - Increases MP, allowing the character to use more magic attacks before draining out. - Magic Strength - Increases damage of magic, allowing the character to lower the enemy's HP more per hit.There are 3 parts to the fighting system: Damage, Combos, and Delay. Damage will be split up into damage ranges. When taking damage a randomizer chooses how much damage the attack does, only choosing from the damage possible in the range. Other than damage ranges there will be damage levels. The three damage levels are High, Medium, and Low. Damage levels depend on the attacks intensity. Slower attacks will generally be in the High damage level, while quick attacks will be in the Low damage level. Combos, as one might guess, are a combination of many attacks to deal more damage quicker. Combos are great to master because attacks temporarily stun enemies, so any pause can cause the enemy to counter, and the delay counter makes combos extremely useful to every player. Delay is something I am using to stop infinite combos. Delay starts when one combo ends, even if your combo was one attack. The less speed you have the longer the delay time between combos will be. I have 2 character ideas. Barry was a soldier, until he was forcefully mutated into a super-soldier-beast-thing (looks like a werewolf) outraged at his transformation, Barry wildly started attacking scientists and soldiers. That was how he was exiled. Attacks: Uses his claws and fangs Main Spell: Becomes Tazmanian Devil-esque Tornado Other Spell: Moves much faster, and jumps higher Feel free to build on him, this is just a basic idea I haven't thought of anything for him... Those are some good characters doodle. You didn't need to give a main and other spell, the 2 spell buttons are for Primary and Secondary forms of the selected spell. There are other spells to each character, it's just that each spell has two ways to be used! I think Barry would be a good unlockable character. You could find him in a dungeon of one of the castles.
