A quick question regarding backup files

Archive: 7 posts

Okay, so I just got the new slim PS3.
Well.
My old PS3 which is the bulky and buggy one, does not play games due to the blu-ray disc.
When I was transferring my data to my USB drive, I noticed that I cannot copy the LBP data onto it.
I've been googling for answers, however, I'm just confused.
How can I get this saved data out of my old PS3 and into my USB drive without being able to actually playing the game and backing it up from there?
It has something to do with this thing called "leerdammer", but I do not know how to work past that patch.
Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately I don't know if you can The only way I know of would be to fix the old PS3, but that's probably too much hassle.
However you might be able to copy back anything you already published, so that could be some good news

Back up your data in-game, then go to "Game Data Utility," you should be able t copy the back up you made, from there.

Hope that helps!

What if I never backed it up on the game with Leerdammer?
I cannot go in-game.
It will not let me copy it into my USB drive...
Data transfer utility?

Data transfer utility is on the PS3 home menu, I think. Pretty sure it backs up your entire hard drive, you can use it to backup copy protected saves.2010-12-27 17:59:00

I don't think you can copy the LBP data file if it contains DLC as this will have DRM. I have never tried it, but I would expect that it wasn't possible as you could easily make copies of your DLC to give to others. You might be able to transfer/move the file as this will delete the original. If you are transferring the data on your broken PS3 to one that works, you should use an external hard drive to store a back-up of the full system (from your broken PS3 using the file utility in the system menu) and restore it on your new PS3.2010-12-28 20:42:00
