Proposition 'Like'

Archive: 23 posts

Just wondering if we could change the 'thanks' button to the 'like' button because...well what if you saw a post that wasn't very helpful but it was really funny?

Edit:

Oh and can we get updates if anyone posts something on threads we start? That would really help on getting information across faster.

I always thought of it as "Thanks for the laughs." I don't really see any reason why we should change something minor like the "Thanks" button.

It's called subscribing to the thread.

Yeah! Then we change the theme to blue and white, then remove the forum part and turn it into a "Wall" and then make it just about you with nothing to do with LBP and call it "Facebook"!2010-12-23 03:52:00

Well, 90% of the threads are mainly Youtube videos nodays...
Maybe we could switch this to YoutubeCentral.com...not like there's gonna be much change at all from what its now.

Adding the "Like" button will even make it MORE like an actual video site.

Random Video

It's scary how fast it happens.

Not a bad suggestion at all Wolverine. I tend to think of the Thanks button as being the same as Like. Only I think I prefer it as Thanks because whenever I hit it, I'm usually grateful for the comment, which also implies I like it. It's like a bonus, right?

As for your thread updates. You should get updates on started threads in the Settings screen, where you also check your reputation. Have a look and see if you can get notifications that way. I can, but I'm not 100% sure whether or not that might be because I'm blue.

Thanks is more personal, which is what you want from a creative community like this.

I like your level.

Thanks for your level.

After spending hours and hours on your most recent master piece, it seems more justifiable when it's the latter and not the former.

Well TC is right, people tent to "Thanks" the posts just because it's good, in fact "Like" it would fit to LBP2 theme. But on other hand, lot of those post are also helpful and useful.2010-12-23 19:16:00

I wouldn't mind notifications when somebody quotes you, as opposed to subscribing and receiving ALL follow up comments.

As for "like" I think I agree with the others.

Though now [someone] mentioned facebook, what about a like and tweet button which adds a link to the thread to your facebook / twitter feed? A little like on the LBP.me site.

As Asbestos101 said, I prefer "Thanks" because it seems more personal, more "community-oriented". That doesn't mean "like" would be a bad replacement - I think "Thanks" just works better in the context of what our community represents.2010-12-23 23:21:00

okay what about the notifications thing? I what if you subscribe to a thread then get every comment that gets posted on it like what DayneOram said. I want to know about what I posted and what other people did in reply to it.2010-12-24 22:09:00

Well that seems a bit self centered, don't you want to hear replies unrelated to you and your comments?2010-12-24 22:21:00

It's not self-centred. It's just something I want. If I want to read other comments that may or may not relate to the thread or my post then I would read it. But if it's spam or anything that wouldn't answer the question I might have then I think I'll pass.2010-12-24 22:32:00
