The almighty maker of The Sky Islands of Oneiros, SeekingTruth86, answers some questions about his series and his LBP PSP thoughts in general. How did you find out about Little Big Planet for PSP? I had heard about LBP on PS3 and it sounded like an amazing idea, but not having a PS3 I didn't really look into it much. I've had multiple PSPs since they were first released, though, and when I heard LBP was coming for PSP I started flipping out and got it as soon as I was able. =) What is your all-time favorite level? Hmmm... though there are so many incredible levels that have been published this past year, my favorites are still Lleonard Pler's (PSN: Lleonard) Harp of Seasons and The Garden of Golden Apples, published back when LBP PSP was still young and buggy. Those levels opened my eyes to what was possible in LBP Create mode. Even today they're my biggest inspiration on the LBP side of life, with their beautifully corner edited environments, natural looking sticker work, and platforming blended seemlessly into the scenery. Who would you say is an inspiration to your work, if applicable? Well, as the previous answer implies, Lleonard Pler for sure. But many other creators have inspired me for many reasons, from brilliant use of logic to great artwork to addictive gameplay... Amazingflyingpoo, Taffey, Salieri, VelcroJonze, and Jeffcu stand out, but many other creators have wowed me with unique ideas as well. Like your Bubbly series! =p What was your very first level like? Ha! I haven't thought about that in a while. It was a journey up through a cave and then up a tree in order to steal an obnoxious toucan's mushroom. I actually thought it was pretty fun, even if the visuals were a bit simple... had some grab switches, some swingy things, electric snakes... and just when I was about to finish it, everything drifted ten yards in a random direction and broke everything! T_T Fortunately I didn't have wifi back then, so I actually never published any of my clumsy (and a bit ugly =p) early creations. I have a dozen such random level fragments scattered over my moon that I've abandoned. ^_^ How did you come up with the idea of The Sky Islands of Oneiros Trilogy? I've played/seen various videogames/animes with cities and temples floating up in the sky, and just thought it would be an awesome environment to jump around in. There's one movie in particular that really planted the creative seed of Oneiros, but I don't want to reveal it since I may still draw more ideas from it later. ;D And no, it wasn't Avatar. =p What can we expect in the final chapter of Oneiros? Well, I don't want to spoil too much, but I can tell you that there will be clouds. Oh, I know I posted that I'd be done in early December... but obviously that hasn't happened. So no more announcing release dates for me, but know I'm working on it whenever I can! After Christmas production should step up a notch. ~_^ | 2010-12-22 21:19:00 Author: anoken Posts: 1654 |
