I live in the detroit area and was running around telling all my friends about him coming here and tagging some of our crumbly walls.

He lives in Bristol I think, so you see a lot of his work around the UK mainly.

The bes in my opinion are the ones where he parodies a famous painting and hangs it up in an art gallery without anyone noticing. They're often hilarious.

He does live in Bristol.

One of his pieces here in Bristol has been completely defaced with other peoples graffiti, kinda ironic really.

Oh, that's sad.
He's such a great artist, it's funny to think that he has to work secretly since his work is actually illegal most of the time.

Exit Through The Gift Shop is a masterpiece of a documentary. I love how Banksy works with his art and the contribution it plays to society unlike a lot of graffiti. The political connections he makes and the messages he portrays through his pieces are fantastic and I love how he can sum up a general motive with his witty style... a picture speaks a thousand words i suppose

So the big question with the documentary... the character Banksy focuses on is obviously a real guy, otherwise he wouldn't have so much footage of the other graffiti artists (Invader etc) over the period of a good decade. But does Banksy develop this character further by creating Mr. Brainwash? There's a lot of evidence to suggest this is the case and Mr. Brainwash was not real.

Simply because it's not graffiti, it's street art. Stenciling to be exact.

Graffiti is writing, stenciling is cutouts to put paintings up quickly.
Supposedly(According to himself) he does sticker slaps too, but I have yet to come across a photo of it online.
